Hitachi Rail STS USA, Inc., headquartered in Pittsburgh, PA, seeks a Power Supply & Traction Power Engineer who will work in Pittsburgh, PA, and unanticipated locations throughout the United States. The employee will have to relocate, but travel is not required from any particular location. Specific duties include: (1) performing grounding design, load flow, harmonic, power flow, voltage drop, arc flash studies using specialized software; (2) developing test procedures and reports in support of design verification and validation during the project life cycle; (3) producing conceptual design, preliminary design, final design, Issued for Construction Drawing, and document packages; (4) supporting system implementation phase of project (installation, testing and commissioning, recording drawings and preparing final reports); (5) supporting procurement effort by developing purchase technical specification and requirements, performing vendor bid evaluation and supporting vendor selection; (6) performing site investigation and walk-downs in medium voltage (MV) substations and along electrified railroad; (7) sizing cables and conduits, and preparing physical layouts for substation or other electrical facilities; and (8) performing technical studies for traction power system, CTBC (Communication Based Train Control) system, and facility power distribution.This position is for a roving employee who will work in unanticipated locations throughout the United States. The employee will have to relocate, but travel is not required from any particular location.Bachelor's degree (or foreign equivalent) in Electrical Engineering, Power System Engineering, or Railway Electrification and five years of experience in an electrical engineering or traction power engineering position in or for the railway industry is required.Experience must include: (1) AutoCAD or MicroStation and ETAP software; (2) railway electrification (DC and AC), specifically design, construction, testing and commissioning, and maintenance of electrical substations; (3) development of technical specifications of electrical equipment; (4) AREMA, NFPA, IEEE, NEC, and NETA standards; (5) electrical safety procedures; (6) contract and change order negotiations; (7) developing engineering project work scopes, criteria, budgets and schedules; and (8) reading blueprints and schematics.Apply at: https://careers.hitachi.com.
