Laboratory Technician III
POSITION SUMMARY:Performs complex laboratory assignments, planning and conducting a complete project of limited scope or a portion of a larger and more diverse project.SUPERVISION AND DIRECTION EXERCISED:None.MACHINES AND EQUIPMENT USED:Laboratory equipment, tools and apparatus; computer and/or peripheral equipment.TYPICAL DUTIES:
In accordance with broadly-outlined objectives, requirements and approaches, plans and conducts technical procedures, non-routine and complex in nature. Sets up and operates sophisticated equipment or instrumentation. Constructs major units of equipment.
With latitude for modifying methods and techniques, records, computes and analyzes test data; prepares test reports and makes recommendations.
May review, analyze and integrate technical work of others; assists in psychology, sociology or education studies and experiments involving human/animal subjects.
Prepares computer programs, schematics, specifications, designs, charts, graphs, tables, illustrations, photographs; may assist in preparation of materials for publication.
May perform specialized duties in process or service laboratories, such as photography/illustration services.
