JOB FUNCTION/PURPOSE - Heavy Machinery (no car mechanics)

Repairs, reworks, and calibrates hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical and electric assemblies, AC/DC

controls and systems to meet operational standards. Aligns, fits, and assembles component parts,

using hand tools, power tools, fixtures.

Prepares mechanical maintenance reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information

and written testing and repair documentation with internal software program. (MP2) experience a

plus.

Inspects, tests and repairs electrical and mechanical machinery. Installs electrical and electronic

parts and hardware in machines, using soldering equipment and hand tools.

Reads blueprints, schematics, diagrams, and technical orders to determine methods and

sequences of diagnosis and repair.

Tests performance of electromechanical assemblies, using test instruments such as electronic

voltmeters and power supply. Verifies dimensions and clearances of parts to ensure conformance

to specifications, using precision measuring instruments.

Identifies and orders machinery parts using OEM drawings or internet information as needed.

Accesses and monitors PLCs for machine diagnosis and repair as well as minor adjustments.

Safely and efficiently troubleshoots and repairs machinery and equipment including but not limited

to logical diagnosis of problems, identification of defective components, the disassembly of

equipment, replacement of defective components and the reassembly and start-up of machinery

and equipment

Ensures operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance

requirements on engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines;

following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering

specifications; troubleshooting malfunctions.

Removes defective parts by dismantling devices; using hoists, cranes, and hand and power tools;

examining form and texture of parts.

Determines changes in dimensional requirements of parts by inspecting used parts; using rules,

calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments.

Maintains equipment, parts, and supplies inventories by checking stock to determine inventory

level; anticipating needed equipment, parts, and supplies; placing and expediting orders; verifying

receipt.

Maintains technical knowledge by reviewing technical publications; establishing personal networks.

Maintains continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities,

and continuing needs. Trains others as required.

Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and

regulations.
