Shores of Hope is a non-profit organization in West Sacramento that is dedicated to making our community a better place. Our mission is to cultivate independence in each individual who is looking for the support they need. We offer several agency programs, which include Transitional Housing, Community Outreach, Child Development, and Transportation.

Shores of Hope Child Development Center is a private, non-profit, State Preschool program that provides services to families in Yolo, Sacramento, and the surrounding counties.

Job description:

Shores of Hope is looking for a high-energy, positive, and professional Preschool Teacher who will ensure the program's high quality is maintained along with the health and safety of the children at all times. The ideal candidate will have initiative, be creative, be highly reliable, and love working with children. This position requires thinking outside of the box, managing a wide range of behaviors, and participating in a variety of learning environments and activities that allow students in our early childhood development center to develop to their fullest potential.

Responsibilities:

As part of our teaching team, you will plan developmentally appropriate activities based on children’s interests and educational needs.

Build relationships which support ongoing communication and partnership with families and co-teachers.

Create a welcoming place for families and all children, respecting their home language, cultural values and traditions.

Follow Licensing guidelines including supervision, children’s personal rights, and health and safety.

Keep teacher/child ratio 8:1

Observe and record children's growth, development and behavior using different methods of recording observations and data, specifically using the DRDP.

Meet with director monthly to review lesson plans, curriculum, and assessments.

Initiates and models’ positive interactions in the classroom, on the playground and in other settings.

Ensures parents, co- teachers and the Director are informed appropriately of children’s cognitive, behavioral, and social issues, as necessary.

Ensure the learning environment is clean, hygienic and safe at all times.

Maintains confidentiality regarding staff, children and families as well as Shores of Hope management and operations.

Attends staff meetings, trainings, and other preschool functions, as required and requested.

Utilizes technology to effectively communicate with staff, parents and the administrative team.

Performs all other duties as assigned effectively and efficiently.

Physical requirements:

Must be able to lift 35 lbs. approximately 100 times per day/shift. Standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching reaching, pulling, pushing, grasping, hearing, talking, and repetitive motion are physical requirements of the position.

Be familiar with and follow all school policies and licensing regulations which include Title 22 and Title 5.

Required responsibilities include moping, sweeping, making nap beds, cleaning with supplies like bleach, and disinfecting classrooms on a regular basis.

Must have received or wiling to get COVID vaccination (or doctor's exception letter).

Have Early Childhood or Child Development units or degrees. Minimum core 12 units with the willingness to obtain more classes.

Have experience working with children with IEP’s.

Dependable, reliable, can communicate effectively.

Will work well with other teaching staff and generally enjoy working in a team environment.

Willing to be flexible with shifts, with possible overtime.

What you need:

At least 1 year of previous experience working with children 2.9-5 years old.

Mandated Reporter Training Certificate

Current Pediatric First Aid and CPR

Fingerprint Clearance FBI and DOJ

Must be up to date on the following vaccinations: MMR, TDAP, Influenza

Successful candidates will have to undergo a background check and TB test for this position.

Job Type: Part-time or Full-time

Pay: $18.00 - $19.00 per hour

Expected hours: 25-40 per week
