DescriptionCitizens Bank is seeking a Credit Analyst to join the Subscription Finance & Services Group. Credit Analysts within this group will work closely with the team’s senior Portfolio Managers and Relationship Managers who oversee a portfolio of private equity fund relationships of varying size and complexity and will apply credit policy and field questions related to the underwriting and portfolio management of subscription lines of credit, which are used to manage capital calls from the funds limited partners. The Credit Analyst will conduct detailed research and due diligence of the fund’s limited partners, market trends and other factors related to the financing that will be considered as part of credit decisions. Successful Credit Analysts become well-positioned for a promising career in Commercial Credit and are equipped with the fundamentals of underwriting, which will be transferrable to a wide range of opportunities. Primary Responsibilities include:

Review and analyze borrowing bases for clients of the Subscription Finance Group

Create and maintain financial models and databases that support portfolio management’s monitoring of collateral, compliance with credit policy and the underwriting of loans.

Coordinate with numerous internal constituencies, including data engineers, to generate comprehensive reports in Excel, Access and Power BI that support portfolio management

Perform financial analysis and due diligence

Write company specific and thematic investment-driven research reports

Conduct research from the primary literature, proprietary databases, tailored industry surveys

Attend meetings with management teams and investor conferences

Analyze and update investment themes and ideas across the Internet sector

This position offers an excellent opportunity to join a high performing and rapidly growing team within one of the largest regional banks in the country. Through this experience, Analysts will gain insight into the issues and considerations for private equity funds as they raise third-party equity, deploy capital across investments and ultimately liquidate those positions over time. Analysts will also develop direct working relationships with current and prospective private equity clients, professionals at other banks, and work firsthand with external legal counsel to negotiate and close new transactions.

Qualifications

General position requirements include:

Ability to function as part of a flat organization, manage several projects at once, and work effectively both independently and as part of multiple teams

Demonstrated experience in credit matters, able to read, interpret, and understand credit issues quickly, and capable of working with a large complex portfolio

Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to express ideas in a persuasive, organized, and articulate manner

Background in finance, economics, or accounting preferred

Self-starting team player who can think strategically and excel in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial, and challenging work environment

Ability to follow-up independently and consistently and play the critical role as the project manager on assignments

High degree of maturity and integrity with a positive and hardworking attitude

Excellent attention to detail

Background qualifications include:

Equivalent work experience or completion of formal credit training program and up to 2 years of applied financial analysis working with straight forward to moderately complex credits in a commercial banking environment is strongly preferred

1-3 years of commercial banking experience is preferred. Commercial Banking experience may include internships, formal credit training, business banking, middle market, and/or specialty commercial banking, commercial banking administration, commercial banking operations, commercial credit/risk oversight, and commercial loan documentation/funding/servicing or other relevant experience

Position requires basic internet search skills, developed knowledge of financial statement spreading and profitability modeling, effective verbal and written communications skills, ability to manage multiple priorities at once

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Word and Power BI

Education:

Bachelor’s degree is required
