The Long Term Civil Commitment Unit is part of UW Medicine's Center for Behavioral Health and Learning - a first-of-its-kind, comprehensive facility designed to transform the way we approach mental health care.WORK SCHEDULE:

Night shifts (7:00pm - 7:30am)

RNs can work 3x12s or 2x12s

Must be able to work weekend shifts on a rotating basis POSITION HIGHLIGHTS

Be part of a brand-new facility when it first opens DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION Our Long Term Civil Commitment Unit is designed to support involuntary admits who require extended periods of care, including those requiring multi-month stays. Our services will include highly structured psychiatric care, services for patients with bipolar disorder and schizophrenia, and programs that promote independent functioning and transition to the community. The unit will have 75 beds available for intake and will play a key role providing person-centered care in a positive clinical environment. ABOUT THE CENTER FOR BEHAVIORAL HEALTH AND LEARNING The new Center for Behavioral Health and Learning , which opened on the UW Medical Center – Northwest campus in 2024, offers an unparalleled opportunity to transform mental health care and to improve mental health care training in our state. Located in North Seattle, the new facility features 75 longer-term adult psychiatry beds, 25 geriatric psychiatry beds, 50 medical/surgical beds focused on patients with psychiatric comorbidities, and a state-of-the-art neuromodulation program. It also houses an interdisciplinary training and workforce development program focused on preparing and supporting the next generation of behavioral health providers for Washington State. Triage incoming patients

Provide behavioral health education to psychiatric patients and their families

Ensure patient safety protocols are followed, including restraint protocols

Monitor and administer oral and injectable medications

Coordinate patient care with a multidisciplinary team, including social workers, psychiatrists, and occupational therapists

Provide personalized care to psychiatric patients with compassion, dignity, and respect REQUIRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

1 year of behavioral health RN work experience

Active licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in Washington State
