I was very active until my early 50s, did several triathlons, cycling events, and endurance runs, I am certified as a Water Safety Instructor (WSI), did some diving (3, 5, and 10 meters), and a whole bunch of other stuff. I wrote nutritional software, big on all-natural and organic clean foods with no added sugar, and I am a primarily plant-based eater.
So why the ad? Well, a few years ago I injured my back badly. I’d never really gone to doctors much but decided that the pain was so bad that I needed to do it this time. It turned out to be the worst mistake of my life. Steroids up the wazzoo, every pain med you can think of, spinals, and eventually them telling me all I could do was have back surgery. I went to the UW Sport Med clinic to discuss when and how, but decided to try a more natural route before taking such a drastic step.
I started acupuncture, chiropractor, and core exercises and stopped all the meds cold turkey. It took about 6 to 8 months but remarkedly, my back is near 100% and I’ve regained nearly all the strength and flexibility I had before. I still must watch things but overall, I’m doing OK. The problem is all the meds I took had me put on 30lbs that I’m struggling to get rid of. This is more difficult as most of my friends are not into health and fitness so I can find the right match.
I have a nice gym in my house as well as a sauna and Red Light/NIR therapy. But I need someone to help motivate me, provide some general support, and to work out with me. I’m not focused on free weights but more TRX, bands, dumbbells, medicine balls, yoga, and cardio. I will be building an even larger gym in my home this fall as I am serious about staying in shape the rest of my life.
No health issues and I am not on any Meds. I’d like to work out M-Thr (one-hour sessions), ideally in the mornings before 10:00. Afternoons after 3:00 may also work. Friday, Saturday, and Sunday I will do yoga and cardio (spinning, elliptical, and walking as I live near the Arboretum). I don't want to go to a studio or gym (IN MY HOME ONLY)
Pay is $50 to $75 per session paid at the end of each session via some cash app like PayPal, Venmo, Zelle, etc. I require someone who can commit to at least 1 month's worth of sessions on the days specified, ideally longer. This is IMPORTANT because I don’t want to miss any days so I can get my body adjusted to and committed to the right routine. Also looking to ease into getting back in shape and not overdo it until I reach this point.
