ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Loads furniture into van, drives truck to specified destination, and unloads furniture; by performing the following duties:

Drive van to loading point and consult with customers on household goods to be moved.

Accurately & completely inventory shipment, including condition of articles to be moved.

Supervise labor and give direction regarding moving articles to van.

Wrap furniture with blankets to prevent damage.

Wrap dishes and fragile items in packing paper and pack them into containers.

Load truck, distributing weight evenly, forming compact load & utilizing space efficiently.

Drive van to destination and unload cargo.

Obtain customer’s signature and/or collect payment for services.

Inspect and maintain assigned equipment, maintain daily driver log and fill out a daily vehicle inspection.

Manage all customer communication including any customer service issues; act as the liaison between the customer and Ernie’s Van & Storage.

Provide work directives, resolve problems, and set deadlines to ensure completion of operational functions.

Maintain safety standards.

Prepare trucks with necessary van equipment and packing materials.

Promote a positive attitude with management and all other employees.

Focus on driving a quality experience for our customers that exceeds their expectations.

Previous experience moving household goods preferred.

Must be willing to work a wide variety of hours, including early start times and Saturdays.

Must be willing to perform relocations within the 11-Western United States which requires out of town travel and stay.

CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES:

Valid driver’s licence & clean MVR.

Must be able to pass DOT medical screen & pre-employment drug screen. Candidate is subject to criminal background search.

Employee must be comfortable and able to drive on freeways in major metropolitan cities, in congested central business districts, in populous residential areas with narrow streets, as well as rural areas with gravel roads and/or low hanging trees.

Employee must be able to climb ladder, and lift items over the head.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Employee must not have any mental, nervous, or functional disease or psychiatric disorder likely to interfere with the employees ability to drive a motor vehicle safely.
