The role is responsible for clinic patient flow and providing health care services as a member of the patient care team.Reporting RelationshipsThis position reports to the Nurse Manager. This position has no direct reports.Essential Job Functions :
Schedule patient appointments.
Organize and prepare exam rooms maintaining a clean, safe, and well stocked environment.
Order and stock supplies.
Complete chart prep for assigned provider’s scheduled appointments each day.
Room patients: completing a brief history, performing monitoring procedures or other nurse delegated tasks, and updating patient’s medical record for provider review.
Provide basic patient education.
Complete prior authorizations for procedures and medication changes or refills. Communicates changes.
Administer immunizations. Draw and process labs and Point of Care (POC) testing as ordered.
Maintain patient flow to ensure a seamless customer experience.
Assist in maintaining work equipment and the work area in an organized manner following the infectious disease/safety regulations per agency policy and supervisory directives.
Other duties as assigned.
Required Technical Skills, Experience, Education, and Credentials :
High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
Minimum 1-year experience as a medical assistant in a primary care setting with phlebotomy experience.
Current certification from an accredited Medical Assistant program.
Familiar with Microsoft Word and Excel and data documentation systems.
Effectively communicate complex ideas and instructions both verbally and in writing.
Certified or eligible for certification in CPR. If not currently certified must achieve certification within the first 90 days of employment.
Work Environment and Physical RequirementsThe work environment and physical demands described here are representative of those that an employee may experience or must do to successfully perform the essential functions of the job:
Ability to work in a fast-paced office environment utilizing various office and clinical equipment.
This position may also work in a variety of indoor and outdoor work environments in the community which may include, various outdoor weather conditions, loud noises, and fluctuating temperatures and the frequent use of stairs.
This position works directly with clients performing many tasks that require accurate verbal and written communication of complex ideas and/or instructions. This position will engage in many physical tasks which may require repetitive movements, crouching, bending and must also be able to provide safe transfers for clients.
Possible exposure to blood and body fluids with some exposure to filth, animals (pets), hazardous materials and infectious diseases.
On occasion must be able to push/pull/lift/move objects weighting at least 50 pounds.
Hours of work will generally be during regular business hours.
