div bspanGENERAL SUMMARY:/span/bspanspan1.span /span/span/spanspanUnder the direction of phlebotomy management, performs diverse support functions including phlebotomy to ensure accurate test results and a quick turnaround time. spanPositions supporting Patient Service Centers and client offices are required to provide phlebotomy services to these locations as determined by department needs and may /spanbe assigned to different locations and/or different schedules without a 30-day notice.span/span/spanspan/spanbspanESSENTIAL DUTIES:/span/bspanspan /span/spanspanspan1.span /span/span/spanspanPerforms venipuncture and capillary punctures to obtain adequate samples from patients.span /spanResponsible for proper patient identification, correct specimen labeling and necessary documentation.span /spanDemonstrates knowledge and ability to evaluate and select proper collection methods for age specific patients./spanspanspan2.span /span/span/spanspanSupports laboratory activities related to laboratory testing (phlebotomy, specimen collection, computer order entry and specimen processing) to ensure accurate result reporting and quick turn-around time. /spanspanspan3.span /span/span/spanspanPerforms processing functions to support laboratory services as related to testing including verification, accessioning, aliquoting, processing and batching send out testing, adding/cancelling tests, distributing, storing and disposing of specimens.span /span/spanspanspan4.span /span/span/spanspanAdheres to Compliance policies as related to job duties to include presenting Advance Beneficiary Notice (ABN) of non-coverage prior to delivery of outpatient services./spanspan/spanspanspan5.span /span/span/spanspanPerforms observational competency of all support staff under the guidance of the phlebotomy leadership using established criteria./spanspanspan6.span /span/span/spanspanMaintains department equipment and inventory to ensure proper supplies are available. /spanspan/spanspanspan7.span /span/span/spanspanWorks well without direct supervision./spanspan/spanspanspan8.span /span/span/spanspanPerforms other miscellaneous duties as assigned./spanispanThis document represents the major duties, responsibilities, and authorities of this job, and is not intended to be a complete list of all tasks and functions.
