Housekeeper Job Description

Experienced full-time Housekeeper is needed for a large estate in McLean,VA. The candidate should have prior experience with the upkeep of larger high-end luxury homes.

The ideal candidate will thrive in a culture of ambitious standards and can easily adapt to changes in routines/schedules. We are looking for someone with excellent interpersonal skills, a straightforward communication style and the ability to reflect the family’s values when interacting with guests.

This Housekeeper position requires an elevated level of organization, attention to detail and a well-developed intuition. It also requires discretion, maturity, and overall good judgment. Candidate must be articulate and possess an outstanding work ethic. Candidate must also be flexible, proactive, and demonstrate excellent time management skills.

The Housekeeper will report to the House Manager and take direction from the Head Housekeeper as well as work closely with other household staff.

Primary Responsibilities:

A checklist is provided; however, it may be changed based on occasion, requirements, and season. It is expected this checklist will be completed for daily and weekly tasks.

This job has a combination of light, medium and deep cleaning responsibilities.

Typical light and medium household tasks will include, but are not limited to:

First Floor:

Daily Laundry of Household use items such as rags and towels

Emptying and loading of dishwashers

Emptying trash, recyclables and compost as needed

Cleaning of kitchen area to set standards

Straightening living areas including dusting, mopping and vacuum

Cleaning of bathrooms daily

Basement:

Straightening living areas including dusting, mopping and vacuum

Cleaning of bathrooms daily

Changing of linens as necessary in guest suite in preparation or departure of guest

Cleaning of guest room kitchenette daily

Qualifications:

Minimum five years housekeeping experience, preferably for larger high-end luxury homes

Ability to work with the highest degree of confidentiality

Must be willing to lift up to 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation

Must be able to climb and descend stairs and ladders safely

Computer skills – basic email and phone app skills for time keeping

Experience with data devices and communicating with smart phones

Candidate must own reliable vehicle or have guaranteed commuting method for arriving and departing workplace

Must speak English fluently

Successful completion of thorough background investigation and reference check

Compensation Hourly Pay does include Overtime and Holiday Pay. 10-day's PTO, Unlimited Sick Leave (with Dr’s note as needed), Medical Insurance Stipend (until coverage is provided), 6 days paid Holiday.

Hours 11am to 7pm, Monday to Friday. Weekend work is not required.
