Our Naturopathic Primary Care clinic is hiring a Front Office Staff Person!
We are looking for a friendly and compassionate person to join our SE Portland clinic. We are a
small team of dedicated healthcare professionals looking for someone with a warm personality,
who is intelligent and has excellent customer service skills. The Front Desk is the face of our
clinic and will be the first point of contact for all of our patients. It is very important that this
person is comfortable communicating with our diverse patient population and believes in our
mission to provide quality integrative care for all people!
The Front Office is responsible for ensuring that all front desk operations run smoothly. Typical
responsibilities include administrative support to our providers, scheduling patient appointments,
answering phones and responding to patient messages, sending referrals and managing
records using our electronic health record system. Triaging urgent patient calls appropriately is
central to this position, so great problem-solving skills and the ability to work well under pressure and independently are a must.
Part- or Full-time hours are available, starting at 25 hours per week.
Front desk or medical office experience preferred. Competitive wage or wage/benefits options available. Raise after successful completion of 6-month trial period.
Responsibilities
Greets patients in the office and on the phone.
Triages incoming patient calls and directs communication to the appropriate provider
Manages our electronic messaging inbox.
Performs complex scheduling, manages our provider’s schedules, and maintains
patient appointment waitlist.
Verifies and explains patient insurance coverage.
Collects copays and account payments.
Obtains patient records and required office forms, performs data entry, verifies and
Updates patient contact and insurance information in our EHR.
Performs new patient onboarding.
Communicates with external referral sources, laboratories and pharmacies.
Limited back-office support, assisting our providers during exams and restocking
Supplies and cleaning instruments.
Ensures reception area and waiting room are clean and neat.
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required
Customer service focused with an ability to patiently manage multiple needs at once
Highly organized with the capacity to work independently to prioritize daily tasks
Computer savvy and experience working with Microsoft Office, Google Drive and
Adobe Acrobat
Excellent people skills with the desire to go above and beyond for our patients
Initiative to improve systems and bring new ideas to increase office efficiency
Likes to work independently and on a small team
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of medical terminology, experience in a medical office, especially at front desk, knowledge of OHP and medical insurance processes
Experience with electronic health record systems
Interest in health care, naturopathy and/or acupuncture
Lives in the neighborhood or has convenient transportation
