Job Summary:

We are seeking an enthusiastic and passionate Barista to join our team at Dark Horse Coffee Roasters here in Koloa Town. As a Barista, you will be responsible for providing exceptional coffee beverages and customer service. You will also have the opportunity to learn about our coffee roasting process, deepen your knowledge of specialty coffee, and assist in educating customers about our products.

Key Responsibilities & Expectations:

Coffee Preparation:

Prepare and serve a variety of coffee drinks, including espresso, cappuccino, lattes, amongst many others, according to established recipes and customer preferences.

Operate and maintain espresso machines, grinders, and other coffee-making equipment.

Consistently ensure quality control, presentation, and taste of beverages.

Customer Service:

Greet and engage customers in a friendly and professional manner.

Assist customers in selecting coffee drinks and educate them about different coffee varieties and brewing methods.

Address and resolve customer complaints and concerns promptly and effectively.

Cash Handling and Sales:

Accurately process cash and card transactions using the point-of-sale system.

Promote and upsell coffee beans, merchandise, and other products offered by the cafe.

Maintain an organized and clean workspace and ensure the display area is well-stocked and inviting.

Inventory and Stock Management:

Monitor inventory levels and assist in ordering coffee beans, milk, syrups, and other supplies as needed.

Ensure freshness and quality of all ingredients and products used in the cafe.

Hygiene and Safety:

Adhere to health and safety regulations, including proper food handling, storage, and sanitation practices.

Regularly clean and sanitize coffee machines, equipment, and preparation areas.

Attend training sessions and workshops to enhance coffee knowledge and barista skills.

Stay updated with the latest trends in specialty coffee and brewing techniques.

Qualifications:

Previous experience as a Barista or in a similar customer-facing role is preferred, but not required. If you can show up with a smile on your face and deliver an incredible experience, WE WANT TO TALK TO YOU!

Passion for coffee and a desire to learn about the coffee roasting process.

Excellent communication and customer service skills.

Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment.

Basic math skills and attention to detail.
