Senior Manager, Insurance Accounting

This is a hybrid role (in office 50% of the time), and you must be located in or willing to relocate to San Francisco or New York.About The RoleAs the Accounting Senior Manager - Insurance, you will have the opportunity to work on an accounting team that is on the forefront of the insurance industry. You will manage the monthly/quarterly accounting close, identify opportunities for a quicker and more efficient close, manage critical accounting projects, and manage the external audit and financial reporting.Insurance is an integral part of Uber's business model; this role will work closely with Uber's insurance organization to drive accounting and finance alignment for innovative and complex insurance initiatives.What You'll Do

Partner with insurance teams (insurance operations, actuarial, claims, stratfin) to advise on accounting implications of new insurance initiatives.

Oversee and manage the monthly and quarterly (insurance) accounting close, working closely with Uber's core accounting operations team, as well as relevant 3rd party accounting teams.

Drive process and system improvements with respect to the insurance accounting close.

Prepare accounting memos related to insurance-specific programs, working with Uber's Technical Accounting team.

Manage the external audit work pertaining to: 1) Uber's insurance accounts and activity, and 2) Uber's stand-alone reinsurance captive's financial statements.

Mentor, guide and review the work of other supporting members of the Insurance accounting team.

Basic Qualifications

Extensive knowledge of US GAAP, specifically pertaining to insurance accounting

8+ years accounting experience, gained in Public Accounting and/or Insurance industry accounting operations

Preferred Qualifications

Experience auditing, implementing or operating in a SOX 404 environment

Manager or above public accounting background at a Big 4 accounting firm, with Insurance industry clients

CPA

Experience with Oracle, Blackline

Strong Excel skills, comfortable with very large data set volume

Ability to influence across the company and interact at all levels

Ability to execute in a dynamic environment

Excellent leadership skills

For New York, NY-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$180,000 per year - USD$200,000 per year. For San Francisco, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$180,000 per year - USD$200,000 per year. For all US locations, you will be eligible to participate in Uber's bonus program, and may be offered an equity award & other types of comp. You will also be eligible for various benefits.
