Custom Cabinet and Furniture Maker looking for woodworker for full-time employment.
Should be: prompt and ready to work, professional demeanor, willingness to learn, organized, clean, kind, direct, communicative, reliable, aware and ready to help maintain a safe shop, be ready work with diverse clientele. Should know how to use the following: miter saw, table saw, jointer, planer, dust collector. There are other tools in the shop so being ready to learn about new machine tools is a must. Being generally knowledgeable of machine safety is necessary. Honesty about your actual ability is paramount. Do not “fake it till you make it”: regardless of your stated ability you will be trained in the safe use of each tool. Being generally knowledgeable of machine maintenance will be a responsibility in which you will also be trained.
Particular to this job you should have a personal tool kit ready for work each day (for example tape measure, tri-square, layout marking equipment, cordless drills, bit set), know how to read a cut list, know how to sand with random orbit as well as with a block, have applicable algebra and geometry skills, clean up after yourself, and have a valid drivers license.
M. Hedges Furniture is a small quality custom furniture and cabinet making shop that builds their cabinets from the ground up and installs them. You will learn cabinet making from the beginning and have a hand in production in every step. Periodically being on site is necessary and being a safe legal driver is often helpful in moving around tools and cabinets during install.
