OR Incumbents perform basic tasks or elements of the job not requiring the additional knowledge, skills and abilities to perform at the next level in the series. This is an IT Technician 1 underfilling an IT Technician 3 position with the Dept. of Motor Vehicles, Motor Vehicle IT (MVIT) Division, Service Desk located in Carson City, NV. Incumbents will monitor service desk user support and ensure all calls are recorded and tracked using SolarWinds ticketing system; identify and decide how to resolve problems themselves or through appropriate referral; assist with logon/logoff procedures for mainframes, servers, and the network; determine the nature of outages and contact the appropriate person or company, clone or restore personal computer (PC) images.Typical tasks include restoring applications and data from backup media; assisting users with network, application, system, or local hardware problems, accessing the mainframe or departmental servers; opening backup drives and releasing damaged media; instructing users on PC operation and faults including connections and peripherals; assisting IT staff with installations or resolutions as required; and identifying Internet protocol (IP) addresses. Incumbents independently resolve many users' PC issues including email and applications problems and record calls using SolarWinds. Incumbents identify and decide how to resolve problems themselves or through appropriate referral; use utilities to check for network connectivity; and establish user rights. Under the authority of NRS 239B.010.1(b), the DMV utilizes NRS 205.4605 - 205.810, NRS 293.504, NRS 293.5045, 6 CFR 37.45, 49 CFR 1572.103, and 49 CFR 384.228 as criteria to obtain a FBI fingerprint clearance check on current and prospective employees.
