DescriptionAmazon Web Services is looking for world class scientists to join the Security Innovation team in AWS Global Services Security (GSS). GSS is responsible for delivering product-led, people-powered services that help our customers operate their business securely on AWS, and we are accelerating our adoption of AI/ML. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute at the intersection of AI/ML, cloud, and cybersecurity. Your primary responsibility will be to envision, experiment, prototype, and help deliver AI/ML solutions in our products to meet the needs of our customers. You will have the opportunity to work with multiple lines of business and learn from (and contribute to) a variety of security use cases. This is a hands-on role where success comes from solutions with measurable impact. Collaborate with security and business teams to identify viable data analysis opportunities

Eagerly explore data - answering questions posed by our security and business teams.

Implement machine learning and statistical methods to solve specific business problems utilizing code.

Build reporting tools to provide insights and metrics which track model performance and explain variance.

Communicate results and recommendations both verbally and in writing. Educate our business partners about our solutions and potential opportunities.

Seek partnerships with peer AI/ML scientists to further develop your data science skills and a body of work that builds trust among colleagues.

1+ years of data querying languages (e.g. SQL), scripting languages (e.g. Python) or statistical/mathematical software (e.g. R, SAS, Matlab, etc.) experience

2+ years of data/research scientist, statistician or quantitative analyst in an internet-based company with complex and big data sources experience

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of statistical packages and business intelligence tools such as SPSS, SAS, S-PLUS, or R

Experience with clustered data processing (e.g., Hadoop, Spark, Map-reduce, and Hive)

The base pay for this position ranges from $97,500/year in our lowest geographic market up to $206,800/year in our highest geographic market.
