SWAL’LECH CONSTRUCTION

P.O. Box 492

Lopez Island, WA 98261

Who We Are:

Swal’lech Construction is a family owned, full-service, design-build general contracting firm. We are located on Lopez Island in the San Juan Islands. We specialize in customer driven projects, collaborating with our customers to deliver on their vision for their project. Whether it is new construction, an addition or a down-to-the-studs remodel, our goal at Swal’lech Construction is to exceed expectations and deliver total customer satisfaction.

Job Description:

Since we work in a small market, we must be flexible and maintain a lean, tightknit, multi-talented crew. This position requires a carpenter able to build from the ground up. Duties include framing floor, wall, and roof systems, finish carpentry, window and door installation and hardware installation. Additional duties will include demolition, site cleaning and making dump runs.

This position will report daily to the Job Foreman and participate in weekly site meetings and maintain a safe jobsite. You will be expected to produce high quality construction that ensures client satisfaction and no warranty callbacks due to poor workmanship.

Other Skills and Qualities and Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will have technical and working knowledge of building methods and construction practices, the ability to read architectural plans/drawings or willingness to learn and the ability to lift normal building materials. Work often involves working in tight or high places (scaffolding, roof, and crawlspaces). A valid Driver’s License and good driving record is required, with reliable transportation (truck is preferred) to commute to jobsite(s).

We supply many jobsite tools, but the position requires that you supply all personal tools or acquire and maintain personal tools. A working knowledge of local Building Codes and required inspections or willingness to learn is necessary. The ability to take direction and instruction, and to remain calm and composed when dealing with problems, difficult people, and frequent interruptions will be necessary. You must be able to communicate ideas and information clearly and unambiguously in written, verbal, or graphic formats.

Benefits:

In addition to offering a competitive wage and benefit package we provide a positive, supportive work environment as well as consistent, steady work.

-Health Insurance including, dental, vision, and emergency Airlift coverage

-Retirement program (401k with a company contribution)

-Five paid holidays a year and paid time off

-State mandated paid sick leave

Compensation:

$40 -$45, depending on experience.

Potential for housing available for the right candidate.
