Apprentice Roofing Estimator/Shop Helper

ob Responsibilities: (including but not limited to)

Estimating Assistance:

- Assist senior estimators in measuring and evaluating roofing projects.

- Learn to analyze blueprints and specifications to prepare accurate cost estimates.

- Collect and compile data on materials, labor, and project requirements.

- Prepare and organize estimates, quotes, and proposals for review.

- Communicate with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain pricing and availability.

- If job is awarded: Verify price, Verify scope of job, and Interface with outside salespeople on related issues.

Shop Helper Duties:

- Support shop operations, including inventory management, material handling, and equipment maintenance.

- Assist with the preparation and organization of roofing materials and tools.

- Maintain a clean and organized work environment.

- Help with loading and unloading materials for various projects.

- Perform routine inspections and minor repairs on equipment and tools.

Skills/Qualifications:

- High school diploma or equivalent.

- Strong interest in roofing and construction.

- Basic understanding of construction practices.

- Familiarity with roofing materials and methods.

- Proficiency in basic math and measurement.

- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.

- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

- Good communication skills and a willingness to learn.

- Ability to lift and carry materials and equipment up to [50] pounds.

- Experience with data entry is a must.

- A valid CA driver's license.

- Must be able to pass a drug screening test.

Preferred Skills:

- Experience or coursework in construction or estimating.

- Basic computer skills, including knowledge of estimating software (a plus).
