Description We are seeking a Housing Specialist for our client in the non-profit industry, located in New Orleans, Louisiana. This role offers a short-term contract to full time employment opportunity and requires skills such as expertise in Section 8, Fair Housing, Leasing Consultant, Administrative Assistance, and Microsoft Excel. As a Housing Specialist, you will be tasked with a variety of case management functions related to the HCV/Section 8 program, determining and documenting participant eligibility, income, and rent, and handling contractual relationships with owners.Responsibilities: Deliver superior customer service in all interactions with applicants, participants, and landlords/owners Perform a variety of case management functions related to HCV/Section 8 program Determine and document participant eligibility, income, rent, and contractual relationships with owners Handle admissions, re-certifications, interim adjustments, rent increases, leasing, portability, project-based, and single room occupancy voucher program requirements Resolve both participant and landlord issues efficiently and professionally Maintain absolute confidentiality of work-related issues and information Communicate effectively with applicants, participants, landlords/owners, and co-workers Investigate and resolve participant and landlord complaints to the satisfaction of all parties Work cooperatively with other members of the team, adjusting workload as necessary Maintain accurate records and submit monthly performance reports as requiredRequirements Must have experience with Section 8 housing regulations and processes Familiarity with Fair Housing laws and regulations is required Previous experience as a Leasing Consultant is preferred Ability to provide Administrative Assistance including scheduling, filing, and customer service Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including the ability to create and manage spreadsheets Knowledge of non-profit industry operations and regulations Strong communication skills, both written and verbal Ability to work independently as well as part of a team Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound decisions Must be able to demonstrate empathy and understanding when working with clients facing housing challenges Commitment to the mission and values of the non-profit organization Willingness to stay updated on changes in housing laws and regulations Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively Excellent organizational skills and attention to detailRobert Half puts you in the best position to succeed by advocating on your behalf and promoting you to employers.
