Executive Chef, Event Chef

Overview:

We are a rapidly growing WDC-based catering company with a strong foundation and a bright future. We are 12 yrs. old and are not new to the WDC Food scene. We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Culinary professional & Event Chef to join our team. This is a unique opportunity to shape the culinary direction of a company that is growing fast. Key Responsibilities

Menu Creation: Collaborate closely with the owner to develop innovative, seasonal menus that align with our brand’s modern aesthetic. This will include creating an initial core menu that will be refined and expanded as the business grows, and as seasons change.

Collaboration: Work alongside the owner to create a cohesive strategy that integrates culinary excellence with operational efficiency, and contribute to business growth through innovative ideas and execution.

Event Cooking: Lead the kitchen team during events, ensuring the highest standards of food quality, presentation, and timing.

Innovation: Stay ahead of culinary trends and bring fresh, creative ideas to the table, helping to distinguish our offerings in a competitive market.

Staffing: Assist in hiring, training, and managing kitchen staff, with the potential for this responsibility to grow as the company scales.

Quality Control: Oversee the preparation, cooking, and presentation of all dishes served at events, ensuring consistency and adherence to our high standards.

Qualifications

Culinary Expertise: Proven experience in menu creation and event cooking, preferably in a high-end catering or restaurant setting. You should have a strong foundation in culinary techniques and an ability to innovate a new modern take on a catering menu.

Creative Vision: A passion for developing a fresh take on catering that combines approachability with sophistication. You should enjoy experimenting with ingredients and techniques to create menus that are both visually stunning and delicious.

Presentation Skills: A keen eye for presentation and an understanding that visuals are as important as taste for customer satisfaction. We are looking for someone who can deliver a stylistic, understated but skilled presentation that resonates with a modern, youthful audience.

Leadership and Collaboration: Strong leadership skills with experience managing kitchen staff. You should be comfortable working collaboratively and communicating effectively to bring innovative ideas to life.

Attention to Detail: A meticulous approach to quality control, ensuring that every dish served meets our high standards of taste and presentation.

Adaptability: Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and adapt to the evolving needs of a growing business.

Compensation & Growth

Compensation: This position will start as an hourly role, with pay based on experience. Initially, the role will require approximately 25 to 30 hours per week or more, with the potential to increase as the business grows. As we enter another busy year of catering, the right candidate will have a lot of opportunities for involvement and growth.
