JOB SUMMARY

The Behavioral Analyst provides one-to-one guidance, support, education and service to Medi-Cal eligible youth and their families. The Behavior Analyst works with the youth in the setting where they are having difficulties. The Behavior Analyst works with the caregivers and primary mental health providers to maintain improvement while attempting to stabilize placement. Most guidance, support, and services are provided in the family’s home and a variety of other community settings. The Behavior Analyst works as an intense, short-term service provider that addresses specific target behaviors. The Behavior Analyst works as a member of a cooperative team with the youth, family, and other members of the mental health team; particularly the Clinical Program Manager and other professional staff working with the youth and family. In providing services to the youth and their family, the Behavior Analyst continually works to support the program goals and outcomes. Supports the Mission, Vision, and Values of the agency.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in a related field AND at least 4 years of approved experience

OR

Associates degree AND a minimum of 6 years of approved experience

Approved experience is experience that qualifies the applicant for Mental Health Rehabilitation Specialist (MHRS) status in the County Children’s Mental Health System of Care. Graduate education may be substituted for the experience on a year for year basis.

Skills & Requirements

Proven documentation skills and intermediate level computer skills including MS Office programs

Prepared to work independently with flexible hours that may include evenings, weekends, and holidays

Knowledge of applied behavioral analysis or equivalent skills

Ability to effectively engage youth and caregivers in the development and implementation of individualized behavioral treatment plans

Adhere to all confidentiality requirements

Verbal and written ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, community partners, consumers and all levels of management

Ability to multi-task and prioritize projects and assignments effectively

Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment within program/department and agency wide

Ability to work in a mobile, fast paced environment

Ability to use a laptop computer

Fulfillment of TB test, background check clearance, and any other mandatory State/Federal requirements

Valid California driver’s license, proof of automobile insurance, can maintain a driving record acceptable to the agency’s insurance carrier, if applicable to position

Must provide and operate a registered, properly insured automobile, if applicable to position

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Position Specific

Writes clear, accurate, and timely progress notes consistent with each contact/visit

Participates in the development of individualized family plans with other members of the team

Attends weekly staff meetings, consultation, and case management meetings as scheduled

Accountable for individual time management

Develops and maintains positive relationships with agency and community partners

Utilizes resources to utilize behavior interventions and strategies

Forms positive, constructive relationships with youth and their families

Identifies strengths, skills, and positive qualities in youth and families

Identifies temporary and sustainable resources and services within family and community environments

Observes and evaluates behavior, then completes a Functional Behavioral Analysis

Utilizes the Functional Behavioral Analysis to implement change programming

Records behavioral data to ensure accurate tracking of target behavior change

Makes recommendations to modify goals as indicated by behavioral data

Makes recommendations for all phases of treatment, including termination of TBS services

Maintains accurate and timely records

Follows all agency policies and procedures

Follows all agency, State and Federal health and safety rules and regulations

Seeks out clinical information and advice as needed, accepts constructive feedback and reasonable recommendations from supervisor

Maintains ability to work flexible hours to meet the needs of the families

Agency Specific

Performs all duties in a manner consistent with the principles and values of agency, while adhering to applicable professional codes of ethics, the agency’s policies and procedures, contractor requirements, and regulatory requirements.

Model and communicate appropriate positive attitudes toward the agency’s Mission, Vision, and Values

Work collaboratively with all agency programs and staff to provide support as needed

Utilize and maintain calendar with all work-related details in order to manage time effectively and share calendar information with coworkers

Participate in on-going training to expand and develop professional skills

Perform other duties as necessary for the agency, as assigned

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

All agency staff must remain physically fit enough to keep themselves safe. All direct service workers must be able to keep themselves and youth safe by demonstrated ability to perform crisis intervention techniques in compliance with agency standards. All agency staff must be able to perform the following physical tasks:

Lift and/or move up to 25 pounds

Use hands to handle, and/or feel objects, tools, and controls

Stand, walk, sit, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl

Talk and hear

Move quickly/run

Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus

Drive a car

Employment At-Will

Employment at the Agency is terminable at-will, which means that employment may be terminated at any time, without cause or reason, by either the employee or the Agency. In addition the Agency may also demote, layoff, transfer or reassign employees at any time at its sole discretion without cause or reason.

Starting Salary Range:

$25.00 - $30.00 DOE
