It works closely on supporting the Cast Member experience across the company.The Senior Software Engineer will report to the Manager of Technology, Labor SystemsAbout The Role & Team:As a Senior Software Engineer on the Disney Experiences (DX) Solutions team, you will be creating innovative solutions by building and executing strategic technical direction in support of the Walt Disney World and Disneyland Workforce Management platforms and products. This will include estimating, planning and overseeing development activities being executed by both internal and vendor development resources.What You’ll Do:

May lead small projects encompassing analysis, design, programming, debugging, and modification of software enhancements and/or new products used in local, networked, cloud-based, or Internet-related computer programs

Responsible for performing testing and debugging of applications

Code may be used in commercial and end-user applications or focus on software and tools supporting infrastructure and technology platforms

Code at the component level

Work typically involves large or highly sophisticated software programs and systems

Possess a proven understanding of current programming language and technologies, with strong skills in writing code and completing programming tasks

Interact with users to define system requirements and/or necessary modifications

Conceive, design, develop, test, and implement software components, fixes, improvements, and/or new systems and applications

Design and develop highly scalable software systems and applications

Ability to communicate to both technical and business users and the ability to gracefully handle passionate conversations

Overseeing, influencing and mentoring collaborative project teams, inclusive of on-shore and off-shore development resources, key clients, and other technical groups in the organization

Strong practice of agile development in a collaborative, dynamic team environment.

Highly flexible to quickly changing business needs and adoption of new technologies

Ability to create and follow programming and style guidelines to maintain high-quality, secure code

Ability to create and maintain documentation, procedures, and work instructions for development or operations team.

Overseeing the diagnosis of issues, evaluating and recommending the best resolution plan and executing against that plan.

Working closely with the QA, project management and business teams on solution implementation.

Adhering to technical development processes, standard and software engineering best practices.

Perform code reviews on regular basis and setup best practices.

Ensuring a process orientation across the technical/project team, being able to develop, implement and improve processes.

Working independently and delivering on agreed upon timelines.

You will be expected to stay up to date with emerging technologies

Required Qualifications:

Minimum 5 years of related work experienc e

Experience collecting, reviewing and updating requirements and/or user stories

Experience writing technical documentation and providing engineering deliverables

Providing technical leadership, able to inspire and coach other technical members to perform at their highest potential.

Experience with SCRUM and other Agile development practices.

Experience with progressively related experience in design, development, and implementation of highly scalable, high-volume software systems and components, mobile-first applications, and major SaaS solutions

Proactive demeanor towards continuous learning and skill development, and an interest in mastering emerging data engineering tools and methodologies

Has solid understanding of the software development life cycle SDLC (e.g. requirements, analysis, design, implementation, testing, and documentation) and associated execution models (e.g. Waterfall, Agile, Iterative Development, etc.).

Java / J2EE development skills, among mainstream programming languages, with a proven record of creating commercial quality software solutions

Experience working in Public Cloud AWS/Google Cloud (GCP), Relational and Document Database Skills (Firestore), Docker

Working knowledge of microservices, RESTful Web Services or APIs.

Working knowledge of object-oriented programming with an understanding of design principles

Progressively related experience in design, development, and implementation of highly scalable, high-volume software systems and components and major SaaS solutions

Experience with event driven architecture, including technologies such as Pub-Sub, Kafka, and similar solutions

Strong knowledge of unit testing, behavioral testing and continuous integration

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with Workforce Management Scheduling Systems in a SaaS environment.

Architecting cloud-based solutions using managed and serverless technologies as appropriate such as Docker, AWS ECS, Google GKE, Google App Engine, AWS Lambda, Google Cloud Functions, AWS DynamoDB, or Google Firestore.

Experience managing automated deployments using tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, Serverless Framework, or Ansible

Experience with JavaScript frameworks (Angular and Node.js)

Experience in Labor Systems or Workforce Management Domain

Experience with QA and software analytic tools is a plus

Required Education:

Bachelor's or foreign equivalent Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software, Electrical or Electronics Engineering, or comparable field of study, and/or equivalent work experience.
