Position: Breakfast ChefReports To: Head Chef or Sous Chef Key Responsibilities: Prepare and Cook Breakfast Items: Prepare and cook a variety of breakfast dishes, including eggs, pancakes, waffles, sausages, bacon, pastries, and other breakfast items. Ensure all dishes are prepared according to recipes and presentation standards. Monitor food quality and presentation to meet customer expectations. Manage Breakfast Service: Oversee the breakfast service, ensuring smooth and efficient operations. Coordinate with kitchen staff to ensure timely preparation and delivery of orders. Maintain a clean and organized workstation throughout the breakfast shift. Food Preparation and Mise en Place: Prepare ingredients, such as chopping vegetables, portioning meats, and preparing batters and sauces, before the breakfast service begins. Ensure all necessary mise en place (preparation and setup) is completed before service. Maintain Hygiene and Safety Standards: Follow all health and safety regulations, including proper food handling, storage, and sanitation practices. Clean and sanitize the kitchen, including work surfaces, equipment, and utensils, after use. Ensure compliance with all food safety regulations and guidelines. Inventory and Stock Control: Monitor stock levels of breakfast ingredients and supplies. Report inventory needs to the Head Chef or Sous Chef to ensure adequate stock levels. Minimize waste through effective portion control and storage practices. Customer Interaction (if applicable): Interact with guests in open kitchen environments, providing a positive dining experience. Respond to customer requests or dietary requirements with professionalism and courtesy. Assist with Training and Development: Assist in training junior kitchen staff and new hires on breakfast preparation and cooking techniques. Share knowledge and expertise on breakfast cuisine and trends with the team. Adapt to Special Requests and Dietary Needs: Prepare special menu items, such as gluten-free, vegetarian, or vegan breakfast options, as requested. Ensure dishes are prepared to meet specific dietary requirements and guest preferences. Qualifications: Proven experience as a Breakfast Chef or similar role in a professional kitchen. Culinary school diploma or equivalent experience preferred. Strong knowledge of breakfast cooking techniques and recipes. Ability to work early morning shifts, weekends, and holidays. Excellent organizational and time management skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality. Good communication and teamwork skills. Understanding of health and safety regulations. Work Environment: Fast-paced kitchen environment, often with early morning hours. Requires standing for extended periods, lifting heavy items, and working in hot conditions. May involve direct interaction with customers in open kitchen settings.
