Motorcycle Safety Instructor
Appalachian Rider Education Program is looking for individuals who are proficient motorcycle riders who are dedicated to motorcycle safety!
We are a passion-driven company that loves riding and helping others learn to ride safely. We know each time we teach, we are saving lives and helping to facilitate dreams coming true.
We are looking for people who are proficient Motorcycle Riders. Someone who naturally is drawn to helping others learn and grow. Someone patient and kind. Someone with a team player mentality where nothing is too small or too big. If something needs to be done and they can do it, they are happy to help. Basic Mechanical skills are a plus but not required, however, a willingness to learn is required.
Once Certified, an MSF Coach is a contractor who can work at any MSF Training Facility throughout the country. We hold classes at a Middle School in Kingsport, TN every weekend from mid-February to early December, with some weekday classes in the Summer months. The Coach would request to work the classes they desire and be approved in advance for those classes. Class times are generally Saturday and Sunday from 7:30 am - 4:00 pm. These hours are tentative and based on weather, student progression, etc. Coaches are expected to arrive an hour early to set up the range with Cones and ensure all motorcycles are in safe running condition for when the students arrive. After class, the range must be cleaned up and bikes put back into the storage container. Bikes are to be filled with gas at the end of each class (We provide gas at the range) and any basic issues addressed, such as changing levers.
Qualifications:
You must be an Experienced Rider who currently has a motorcycle with at least 2,000 miles on it.
You must have a Passion for helping others and teaching
You must be willing to learn and grow and be teachable
You must take the Basic Rider Class within 1 Year of your Instructor Prep Course (IP)
Certification Process
Once selected a coach to be will apprentice with one or more MSF Coaches before their IP. This is not paid and is on your own time. We suggest around 10 classes to ensure you are well-prepared for your IP. As you get more comfortable you will be allowed to Ride Demos and give Instructed instruction. This hands-on training will ensure you are confident and competent in your IP.
We will pay for your IP, which is 3 Weekends in a Row at a Training Facility somewhere in TN (Usually in Knoxville or Nashville). After passing you will teach 2 Classes for free to pay back the investment.
Pay Per Class?
ALL Instructors at AREP earn $450 per Class. Pay is paid out after each class is completed.
