Boris & Horton is Hiring an Experienced Barista with Food Handlers

Boris & Horton, New York's first dog-friendly coffee shop and community space, is hiring an experienced barista

In cooperation with the Department of Health, Boris & Horton serves coffee and food in a dog-friendly environment. Our dog side features café style seating and upscale pet products while the cafe serves coffee from Paloma Coffee Roasters along with light food, beer and wine.

The barista role includes, but is not limited to the following:

- Prepare coffee drinks and food by following the prescribed recipes and preparation techniques. Note that this role includes a fair amount of food prep

- Maintain the barista station and espresso machine, paying close attention to detail and health code standards

- Ensure that inventory is properly stocked to maintain an easy customer flow (i.e, milk sugar, cups, napkins, etc). You must be able to lift heavy boxes and go up and down stairs with ease.

- Prepare all cold brew, drip coffee and ice tea batches for the days' production: work with the team to replenish as needed throughout the day

- Display a positive demeanor and welcome every customer, no matter how busy you may be. Customer service is big for us!

- Have a strong understanding of the menu and make sincere recommendations

- Maintain all inventories throughout the day

- Keep the café clean and tidy throughout the day.

Requirements:

-3 Years of specialty coffee experience

- Familiarity with coffee & espresso drinks and manual machine experience

- Ability to work well alone and on a team

- Strong attention to detail and good time management

- NYC Food Handler's License

-Must LOVE to keep a clean and tidy workspace.
