Staff Needed to Conduct Surveys on NFTA Metro
Stat Team, Inc. is a nation-wide staffing agency seeking reliable, professional, bilingual staff to administer surveys to riders on NFTA METRO between September 17 and November 15, 2024.
The Greater Buffalo-Niagara Regional Transportation Council (GBNRTC) is conducting an On-Board Rider Survey in order to collect rider trip information and rider characteristics for future planning. The primary scope of this project is to conduct an onboard transit passenger survey of all Niagara Frontier Transit Metro Systems (NFTA METRO) fixed-route bus and rail during 2024 weekdays.
The data collected from passengers will be used to improve transit in the Buffalo-Niagara region and help improve overall transportation by using the collected data in planning and forecasting.
POSITION TITLE: Interviewer/Surveyor
JOB DESCRIPTION: Report to assigned location (bus/rail station) 15 minutes prior to departure time to sign and in receive equipment and special instructions. Board assigned bus/rail and approach passengers to ask them to take part in a 6-7-minute survey. Complete survey with passengers entering their answers using a tablet device.
The survey questions include:
The passengers home address (mapped on the tablet using a Google API mapping function)
Where/what type of place is the passenger coming from and where are they going.
Which stop the passenger got on at, and where they will get off during this one-way trip
If the passenger used any other buses on the trip they are taking (transfer routes).
Demographic questions relating to income, ethnicity, employment, etc.
Interviewers will be required to get 4 completed and accurate surveys per hour. The surveys will take place on the bus meaning staff will be on buses for roughly 7-8 hours daily throughout their shift. At the end of each shift, staff will return to their location and return equipment, receive supervisor feedback, and receive a report time and location for the following day. Shift times and report locations will vary daily.
REPORT LOCATIONS:
]Survey Staff will report to their assigned report locations in Buffalo and the surrounding area:
Report Locations will be at various transit centers including but not limited to the downtown Buffalo Transportation Center on Division/Elliott and University Station at UB South Campus. We will begin collection from University Station.
Parking will be available at the first reporting location (University station first 2-3 weeks) and will not be available at the report location after (Downtown Buffalo Transportation Center after week 2 or 3) (some stations may have parking while others may not). Badges will be provided for staff in order to get to and from assignments.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be punctual and reliable.
Must be able to communicate with strangers (Bus/Rail Passengers)
Must be a regular user of smart phones/tablets.
Must be familiar with Google maps
Must be able to stand on your feet on board a moving bus for up to 7 - 8 hours
Must be comfortable asking personal travel and demographic questions
AVAILABLE SCHEDULES:
Schedule 1: AM Shift – Every Monday through Thursday until November 15 (excluding holidays) – approximately 5:45am-2:00pm.
Schedule 2: PM Shift – Every Monday through Thursday until November 15 (excluding holidays) – approximately 1:30pm-10:30pm.
MANDATORY PAID TRAINING: Tuesday, September 17, 2024 - AM Shift – 8:00am-12:00pm and PM Shift - 1:00pm-5:00pm.
PAY: Starting pay is $18.00 per hour. We pay weekly via direct deposit (W-2 position).
