As a Landscape Construction Worker, you will be responsible for installing and constructing various elements in outdoor spaces, including hardscape structures, laying sod, planting trees and shrubs, and building fences. You will work as part of a team to execute landscape designs to enhance both residential and commercial properties. This position requires hands-on experience in outdoor construction, physical stamina, and attention to detail.
Key Responsibilities:
Hardscape Installation:
Install patios, walkways, retaining walls, driveways, and other hardscape features using materials like stone, brick, concrete, and pavers.
Prepare sites by grading, leveling, and compacting soil as needed.
Operate and maintain construction tools and machinery such as saws, compactors, and excavators.
Sod Installation:
Lay sod in residential and commercial properties.
Prepare soil by grading and leveling before laying sod for optimal results.
Ensure proper watering and initial care of newly installed sod.
Planting and Landscaping:
Plant trees, shrubs, flowers, and other plants according to design plans.
Prepare soil by fertilizing, mulching, and ensuring proper drainage.
Assist in maintaining plants during the initial establishment period, including watering, trimming, and fertilization.
Fence Building:
Construct wooden, vinyl, or metal fences as specified by landscape designs.
Set fence posts, build frames, and install panels or pickets accurately.
Use carpentry tools to measure, cut, and assemble fence materials.
General Site Work:
Load and unload materials and equipment as required.
Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to ensure project goals are met.
Follow safety protocols and use personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
Qualifications:
Experience in landscaping, hardscaping, sod installation, and fence building.
Knowledge of materials, tools, and equipment used in landscape construction.
Ability to read landscape designs, blueprints, or plans.
Physical stamina to handle heavy lifting, digging, and working outdoors in various weather conditions.
Strong teamwork and communication skills.
Basic carpentry skills and experience operating machinery (preferred but not required).
