Highway Project Engineer

JMT is currently ranked #60 on Engineering News-Record’s list of the Top 500 Design Firms.A career-minded Highway engineer, looking towards advancement, is needed to join JMT's Highways Team in either Philadelphia or Fort Washington. The selected candidate will become part of an established team of engineers working on exciting, high profile, complex, and impactful transportation projects in the Mid-Atlantic region. They will be responsible for engineering design using knowledge of general engineering principles and practices to interpret, organize, execute and coordinate assignments with limited supervision. The successful candidate will also act as a technical advisor to less experienced engineers. Are you JMT’s next Highway Project Engineer?Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Design and Oversee plans, estimates and specifications for compliance with PennDOT, The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission, and the city of Philadelphia’s guidelines and standards
Develop construction documents including all aspects of highway and site design (geometrics, details, ADA criteria, roadway profiles, utility design and coordination, pavement markings, and maintenance and protection of traffic, signage)
Analyze survey reports, maps, drawings, blueprints, aerial photography and other topographical or geologic data to plan projects
Perform design computations
Manage project sub-consultants and in-house support disciplines
Develop extra work order requests and open-end contract task proposals
Prepare proposals as required
Attend meetings with clients
Coordinate with internal team members to ensure project completion by the defined deadline and established quality
Nonessential Functions and Responsibilities
Perform other related duties as assigned
Required SkillsRequired Experience
Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a related field from an ABET accredited engineering program
5-10 years’ experience in specialized discipline
Proficient in Bentley MicroStation and InRoads
Proficient in Microsoft Office
Written and communication skills
Preferred Experience
Professional Engineer License
Proficient with AutoCAD and Civil 3D
Proficient with Bentley OpenRoads Designer
Experience working with local clients at the county and state level

Working ConditionsWork is performed within a general office environment 95% of the time. Work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require occasional standing and walking. Lighting and temperature are adequate and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. within the office environment.Field work is required on occasion where work may be conducted outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions.
