Staff Accountant
Description We are offering a contract to permanent employment opportunity for a Staff Accountant in the government industry, based in Lombard, Illinois. As a Staff Accountant, you will be entrusted with managing financial transactions, preparing financial reports, and ensuring compliance with government regulations. Responsibilities: Ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial data in accounting systems. Assist in the preparation and monitoring of budgets for government-funded projects. Maintain and reconcile fund accounting records. Assist in the preparation of financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements. Prepare and submit financial reports in accordance with government regulations. Perform general ledger reconciliations and month-end close processes. Provide support during internal and external audits, including preparation of audit schedules and responding to auditor inquiries. Prepare and submit compliance reports as required by governing bodies. Stay updated on changes in accounting standards and government regulations affecting the organization. Manage fund allocations and ensure accurate fund distributions. Requirements Minimum of 1 year of experience in a Staff Accountant role or similar Proficiency in Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) Experience in performing Bank Reconciliations Familiarity with General Ledger operations Proficiency in creating and managing Journal Entries Experience in Month End Close procedures Knowledge of NetSuite, Oracle, QuickBooks, and SAP software Ability to perform Account Reconciliation and Bank Account Reconciliation Experience in Fund Accounting Knowledge of Government Audits and Government Grants procedures Ability to identify and rectify Account Discrepancies Experience in managing Weekly Account Payable Familiarity with Accounts Receivables systems Experience in conducting Financial Audits Ability to work in a government industry setting Robert Half is the world’s first and largest specialized talent solutions firm that connects highly qualified job seekers to opportunities at great companies.
