Non-Retail Pharmacy Technician

Under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist, theNon-Retail Pharmacy Technician assists the pharmacist in processing medicationorders by assembling and preparing medications to be dispensed for inpatientand/or outpatient services. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Compounds and dispenses protocol specific medicationsordered by physicians

Assists pharmacists, physicians, nursing and clinicalpersonnel with pharmacy services

Assesses PAR levels and maintains department facilities withan adequate supply of medication, equipment, and materials to promoteefficiency and safety of patients

Processes prescriptions, evaluates for quality and accuratepatient identification and side labeling

Delivers medications to varies locations throughout thefacility

Inventories and exchanges daily medication located innursing stations, operating rooms, emergency rooms, and emergency carts

After pharmacist reviews the order for errors or potentialproblems, assists with transcribing the relevant information about the patientand the prescribed medications into the patient’s chart

Prepares trays and kits and refills anesthesia carts

Manages inventory of automated dispensing machines

Monitors for diversion of controlled substances

Maintains patient confidentiality at all times

Assists in keeping pharmacy clean and organized

Performs other duties as assigned/necessary

Minimum Requirements:

High School diploma or its equivalent certification

Graduate of accredited Pharmacy Technology Program

PTCB or NPTA license preferred or as required bystate/contract

Minimum of one year relevant experience preferred

Complies with all relevant professional standards ofpractice

Participation and completion of Amergis' Competency programwhen applicable

Current CPR if applicable

TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable

Current Health certificate (per contract or stateregulation)

Must meet all federal, state and local requirements

Successful completion of new hire training as applicable tojob site

Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAArequirements

Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to andfrom appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors,co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in theEnglish language is required

Computer proficiency required

Must be at least 18 years of age
