They provide assistance in transporting, transferring and lifting. They perform cleaning Functions in patient careunit as delegated, and perform selected diagnostic tests.ESSENTIAL KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Provides direct patient care as delegated by RN staff
Monitors and records vital signs
Assists in providing personal hygiene and physical care needs
Accurately measures, records, and reports intake and output
Obtains and records daily weight
Performs blood glucose testing using blood glucose meter
Reports changes in patient’s status promptly to RN
Performs as sitter or patient care companion when needed
Assists in the admission, transfer and discharge process
Performs unit housekeeping needs.
Delivers specimens, picks up medications and other items
Acts as receptionist for unit; has limited use of the hospital information systems according to hospital policy
dependent on the need of unit
Checks and documents refrigerator temperatures as delegated, reporting variances to appropriate personnel
Updates assigned bed status
Answers call lights and telephone
Keeps patient environment clean, Performs comfort rounds, keeps hallways clear of obstruction, reports safety
issues and broken equipment appropriately, and adheres to patient safety precautions
Communicates with patient’s family, physicians, and unit personnel and peers in an accurate, courteous, and
professional manner
Performs phlebotomy and 12 lead EKGs as permitted on the assigned unit
Removes saline locks
QualificationsRequired Education, Experience and Certifications
HS diploma/GED required
BLS required
1 year direct patient care experience or graduated from an accredited school of nursingRequired Minimum Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and TrainingGood written/oral communication skillsCompletion of PCA II orientation/trainingPay Range$14.82 - $20.38 /hourWe are an equal opportunity/affirmative action employer.
