The Ward County State's Attorney Department is currently taking applications for the position of Investigator.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION:

Investigator assists the State's Attorney with issues that involve investigation of personal and property crimes to assist attorneys in the prosecution of those crimes on behalf of Ward County. Required to work closely with attorneys on evaluating and preparing cases for trial. Independently performs fact finding and investigation into cases to prepare them for trial.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsible for interviewing and taking statements from victims, witnesses or others involved in assigned investigations; compiling relevant data for assigned case investigation records; photographing, collecting, and analyzing evidence; preparing reports on investigations and/or crime scenes and evidence.

Responsible for reviewing, analyzing, and maintaining records, accounts, and other factual information; preparing diagrams, charts or other visual aids in support of investigative work.

Responsible for assisting in locating and making arrangements for the appearance of victims or witnesses in proceedings. Prepare subpoenas as needed.

Responsible for assisting attorneys with case evaluation and preparation of cases for prosecution, including testifying in court as required

Conduct follow-up investigations, including interviews of victims or witnesses to obtain statements and evidence for trail.

Prepare investigative reports.

Location and assure appearances for victims and witnesses for trails, hearings, and depositions. Locate relevant evidence records and personal property.

Assist attorneys with preparation presentation of evidence in court.

Maintain case records and provide testimony in court proceedings.

Analyze extensive electronic discovery and develop investigation plans using the identified facts.

Preparations for trials, including assistance with Jury pool backgrounds.

Organize workload to ensure all documentation and reports are accurate and in proper form to assist attorneys. Maintain a positive and productive work environment with effective communication, a professional manner and teamwork with the State's Attorney's office, other county departments, law enforcement agencies and members of the public.

3. SUPERVISION RECEIVED/EXERCISED:This position is supervised by the State's Attorney and exercises no supervision over other positions.4. REQUIRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:[Any Combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying.

Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice or a Behavioral Science and investigative work experience. Relative investigative work experience may be substituted for the degree requirement.

Must possess a valid driver's license, reliable transportation and applicable insurance.

Understand and able to speak and read English. English-Spanish Bilingual Language skills a plus. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Computer and social media literacy, familiarity with Windows OS, and proficient in Microsoft Office application, Adobe Acrobat and LEARMS and AXON (or similar)

]{arial=""}Experience working in and/or with Native American, Hispanic and/or African American communities.Background in social work, reentry courts, mental health treatment and diagnosis, and recovery and addiction treatment.Experience with International investigation and travelExperience with matters involving complex fraud, bankruptcy, forfeiture, and financial records.
