OverviewBowhead is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Technical Documentation Specialist – Network Infrastructure to join our team.The ideal candidate will develop both written and visual documentation for network infrastructure projects. This position involves creating comprehensive VISIO drawing packages based on site surveys, installations, and as-built (AB) reports, as well as producing detailed Trainer Facility Reports. The successful candidate will work closely with engineers and field teams to ensure that all technical data is accurately captured in both written narratives and technical diagrams.Responsibilities VISIO Drawing Development:Create and manage detailed VISIO drawing packages based on network infrastructure designs, site surveys, installations, and as-built documentation. Ensure all diagrams are consistent with technical specifications and meet organizational standards. Written Documentation:Develop and compile comprehensive Trainer Facility Reports that include detailed written narratives of network installations, configurations, and as-built conditions. Ensure that reports are clear, concise, and technically accurate. Collaboration and Data Collection:Work closely with network engineers, field technicians, and project managers to gather necessary data from site surveys and installations. Integrate this data into both visual and written documentation formats. As-Built Documentation:Maintain and update all documentation (VISIO drawings and written reports) to reflect any changes in network infrastructure post-installation, ensuring that all documentation is accurate and up to date. Documentation Library Management:Organize and manage a library of drawings and reports for multiple projects. Ensure version control and consistency across all documentation. Compliance:Ensure all documentation adheres to internal guidelines, industry standards, and any relevant external regulations, including federal contracting requirements where applicable.Qualifications Associate’s degree in a related technical field (e.g., Information Technology, Engineering, or Technical Writing) or equivalent professional experience. Minimum of 2-4 years of experience in technical writing and drawing development, preferably in network infrastructure. Proven ability to write clear, concise, and technically accurate documentation for complex systems. Experience writing detailed technical reports. Proficient in Microsoft Visio, with experience creating detailed diagrams for network infrastructure, including routers, switches, servers, and cabling. Familiarity with network infrastructure components and configurations, including the ability to interpret technical specifications and site survey data. Strong organizational skills to manage multiple projects and ensure all documentation is properly versioned and stored. Excellent verbal and written communication skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including engineers, field technicians, and project managers. Strong attention to detail, ensuring the accuracy and consistency of both written reports and visual documentation.Preferred Skills:Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Engineering, Technical Writing, or a related field. Certifications related to networking or CAD design (e.g., Cisco certifications, Microsoft certifications). Experience with AutoCAD or similar CAD software. Familiarity with networking hardware from vendors such as Cisco, Kramer, or similar. Previous experience developing both as-built (AB) diagrams and technical reports for network infrastructure projects. Understanding of federal contracting requirements and technical reporting standards.Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:Typical office environment with no unusual hazards, occasional lifting to 30 pounds, kneeling, standing and walking, routinely sitting and constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication, constant mental alertness, and must be able to work under deadlines. Must be able to travel 25 percent of the time.SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance. Candidates with an in-scope security clearance are preferred.
