Compliance Development Program, Emerging Talent Primary Purpose: The Emerging Talent Programs at Heritage Environmental Services are designed to train and develop high potential candidates and provide opportunities to accelerate your career growth and gain direct, hands-on experience. Working alongside managers and leaders, exposure to high level projects, and individualized mentorship provides a unique experience for all participates. The Compliance Development Program is a 2-year program that explores all areas of our environmental, health, and safety (EHS) compliance department. Essential Functions & Requirements:

Ensures Health & Safety is the number one goal by following policies, processes, and acting in a safe manner at all times.

Develop an understanding of how the company works and build relationships with Emerging Talent Program Representatives through regularly scheduled meetings, annual training workshops, and mentor programs.

Network with professionals from various disciplines across the organization to enhance teamwork, collaboration, communication, problem solving, and strategic thinking skills.

Maintain awareness of all Heritage policies, guidelines, and procedures to ensure compliance.

Assist with analyses and support of a business unit's performance. This may include tracking KPI's for safety, environmental compliance, quality and production as well as providing assistance on team projects to drive improvement. Work with employees of all levels to develop new Standard Operating Procedures.

Follow our waste management process from start to finish, working with other departments.

Secure and maintain EHS programs, management systems, and permits; perform & monitor EHS audits; and/or understand and apply regulatory information.

Determine the impact of proposed and final industry related regulations on activities of the various Heritage business units, including field activities and treatment facilities at customer locations. Determine impact, provide guidance, and monitor performance regarding permit conditions, company policies, and corporate objectives on company operations.

Work with line management and colleagues to develop EHS compliance strategies, programs, and systems in response to regulatory developments including enforcement.

Assist and support Heritage sustainability efforts, including input to annual sustainability report development.

Assist Heritage personnel with evaluation of regulatory compliance and technical issues; helps establish technical standards and provides training or coordinates corporate training initiatives.

Identifies business opportunities associated with changing EHS regulations; make recommendations for necessary action requiring Heritage services; assist with determining EHS regulator framework of new business ventures and assist sales with technical evaluation of complex business opportunities.

Keeps apprised of regulatory developments at the state and federal level; maintain manageable relationships with state and federal regulatory agencies for compliance inspection and permit writing personnel as appropriate. Assists colleagues with regulatory and compliance matters.

Work with customer sot provide guidance and direction relative to EHS issues as needed including fee-based consulting services to significant customers.

Manage and direct internal and outside consultants to ensure working within Heritage policy framework and objectives.

May manage or support corporate-wide quality initiatives.

May demonstrate and focus on specific areas within the EHS Disciplines.

Ability to travel up to 25%.

Education:

Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Chemical, Environmental, Civil), Science (Chemistry, Environmental), Environmental Management, Environmental & Sustainability Studies, or related field (required)

Anticipated graduation with qualifying educational degree prior to program start date (required) -OR-

Qualifying educational degree that has been obtained within 2 years prior to the program start date (required)

Minimum 3.0 GPA (required)

Experience:

Prior relevant internship, co-op, or practical experience (required)

Demonstrated leadership ability and initiative such as a school club officer, sports team captain, resident advisor, etc or exceptional leadership on work projects (required)

Competencies:

Strong teamwork, networking, written, and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact effectively at all levels of the organization.

Creative problem-solving and critical thinking skills

Organizational and time management skills.
