TLC Child and Family Services is seeking a full-time (40 hrs/week) Instructional Aide. Under the supervision of the school Principal and Lead Instructional Aide, this person is responsible for supervising students as well as providing consistent, empathetic and trauma-informed academic and social-emotional support as needed. This position is based on the school calendar and includes 207 contracted work days per year, including regular school year, extended school year and professional development days.

Program Description:

Journey Academy nonpublic school, a program of TLC Child and Family Services, and is accredited by the CDE and the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC). Our program serves students in 9th through 12th grades who have an Individualized Education Program (IEP) for Emotional Disturbance, Autism, Other Health Impairment, and/or Specific Learning Disability.

Requirements & Qualifications:

High school diplomaCalifornia teaching substitute credential OR is able to pass the CBEST and obtain a California teaching substitute permit within 6 months of being hiredObtain and maintain fingerprint, government and agency required background clearances, without additional exemptionsAbility to pass a pre-employment physical exam, TB test and drug screenValid California driver’s license with an acceptable driving record and auto insurance showing the employee as an insured driver on the policyAbility to complete all agency required training, including Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (NCI) training by expected due dates. NCI Training prepares staff to prevent and de-escalate medium to high-risk behavior using both restrictive and non-restrictive methodsAbility to perform supervisory duties within the Journey Academy residential home environment if neededSkills & Abilities:

Solid and professional verbal, written, observational and interpersonal skillsProvides academic support for students in high school level coursesAbility to think and respond calmly, professionally and empathetically in complex and challenging situationsProvides direction, support and feedback to emotionally dysregulated youthAbility to work with diverse people including staff, youth and community membersProficient with technology, including Google Suite and Classroom, Microsoft Office and other educational applicationsExcellent understanding of and ability to implement school and agency training, procedures and protocols that reinforce safety and compliance, including Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (NCI) training.TLC offers a generous benefit package for full time staff including:

Wage Range: $21.12 – $23.08 per hour, based on years of experience
