Duties and Responsibilities:
CNC programming & CNC mill operator
Assist operators and machinists with program processes.
Understand proper setup and use of tooling associated with machines.
Analyze job orders, drawings, blueprints, specifications, and design data to determine the appropriate machine tool, work holding and cutter selection, machine speeds, and feed rates.
Creation of setup documentation, tooling documentation, in process support, and shop aided drafting prints.
Write, store, and modify original and/or existing CNC programs to enhance efficiency.
Troubleshoot programs and processes.
Plan, design, and produce work holding fixtures if required.
Ensure parts and tools are loaded correctly and that quality is consistently maintained throughout the assignment.
Coordinate with other functional areas as needed to implement and change CNC programs.
Focus on continuous improvement through increased throughput and reduced changeover time.
Stay current with new versions of programming software.
Verify and simulate programs to CAD models to ensure accuracy.
May perform machining set-ups or production support in the department as required.
Change and adjust cutters as required to ensure quality and tolerance requirements have been met. Ensure machinery and tools are adequately maintained and serviced.
Responsible for ensuring proper documentation is entered on manufacturing orders (including correct quantities & specification recording).
Precise accurate trimming ability. Attention to detail and a meticulous eye.
Knowledge of general machining processes using a wide variety of machine tools.
Understanding of CNC type machines and the processes they use, such as set-ups, monitoring, change-outs, etc.
The ability to know when to stop and ask for clarification.
Focus on continuous improvement through increased throughput and reduced changeover time.
Education & Qualifications:
Associate degree in Machining Technology or equivalent relevant work experience (2-3 years).
Expert knowledge (3-5 years) of Mastercam 3, 4 and 5 axis.
Excellent knowledge of G-code.
Utilize machine probing for in-process part measurement.
The ability to apply mathematical functions knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs and uses.
Experience in production and prototyping environments.
Blueprint reading and basic math skills.
