Senior Commercial Deposit Specialist

This hybrid position can be based anywhere within the M&T footprint.Overview:Responsible for developing new business, expanding existing business relationships, and servicing the Bank's Commercial clients, including handling high touch client Commercial Payments and Depository accounts. Accountable for developing strategic business plans and sales campaigns for target clients and prospects. Works closely with Relationship Managers and Leadership, as well as clients at the Executive Level. Considered a subject matter expert on respective product line benefits and services with various industries. Relied upon by management to set the example for and serve as a mentor to others on Deposit and Commercial Payments Solutions. Responsible for actively cultivating referral network and systematically using it to speed up prospecting. Must be able to lead prospecting charge for new deposit-centric clients.Primary Responsibilities:Contribute to Division success towards annual sales & revenue plans by:

Managing division’s complex Commercial Payments/Depository relationships within assigned portfolio to ensure client satisfaction.

Acting as a partner with Division’s Relationship Managers to facilitate the sale of Commercial Payments, Client Directed Investments, and other products and services in conjunction with all sales efforts, including efforts to grow balances in existing accounts and convert prospects.

Meeting with existing Commercial Payments/ Depository clients to expand relationships and to ensure proper servicing of clients.

Acting as an expert Commercial Payments/Depository advisor for the clients. Resolve client requests and/or issues independently.

Responsible for all phases of the Commercial Payments/Depository sales process from referral, documentation, implementation, sales booking, and subsequently client servicing.

Develop strategic business plans and sales campaigns for target clients and prospects.

Formulate and execute on strategic plan for consistently developing new Depository and Commercial Payments opportunities through prospecting and projects/initiatives.

Prepare and present sales presentations and proposals (for both internal and external audiences), illustrating customized Commercial Payments/Depository solutions, industry trends, as well as features and benefits of the recommended product offerings.

Provide consultative training to ensure an understanding of the Bank’s product offerings and communicate product changes and enhancements to Division.

Collaborate with appropriate M&T Bank partners.

Maintain databases and results tracking as needed to support the Division’s sales of Deposit products and growth in Deposit balances.

Make presentations to Division employees, Division Managers, and senior management regarding Deposit sales and growth.

Establish & maintain good relationships with internal partners such as Marketing, Product Management, Operations, etc.

Promote the success of the Division versus sales and service quality goals by working closely with RL’s on sales processes, customer satisfaction, and related operational issues.

Participate in Bank wide and Division projects to improve processes, implement new products & services, improve existing products & services, and drive sales success.

Understand and adhere to the Company’s risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the Company’s Risk Appetite. Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.

Promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the M&T Bank brand.

Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.

Complete other related duties as assigned.

Scope of Responsibilities:This position interacts with, supports, and shares customer & portfolio goals with Relationship Managers, Leadership and where applicable Credit.Incumbent is the primary or secondary point of contact within the Division for Product Management, Marketing, project managers and other M&T Bank departments.The incumbent must demonstrate the ability to lead teams and the ability to work as member of a team, as appropriate.Managerial/Supervisory Responsibilities:No direct reports although must be adept at developing the skills and product knowledge of others, particularly junior RM’s, RL’s and RMDP’s.Education and Experience Required:Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 5 years Commercial Payment Sales or related experience or in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 9 years’ higher education and/or work experience.Travel to maintain relationships with Key Clients and develop prospects as needed.Strong Commercial Payments/Depository product knowledge and experience identifying needs based on client life cycle and industry.Excellent interpersonal skills.Proven ability to communicate effectively one on one and across a large audience (Webex, Conference call, email, etc.)Goal driven and proven ability to have strong internal partnerships.Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to function professionally at many different levels (clients, management, peers).Expert level proficiency with MS Word, MS PowerPoint or similar.Education and Experience Preferred:Certified Treasury Professional (CTP) preferred.Expert level proficiency with M&T Bank information systems a plus.M&T Bank is committed to fair, competitive, and market-informed pay for our employees. The pay range for this position is $116,709.52 - $194,515.87 Annual (USD).
