Excellent opportunity to join a well established (15+ years in business) innovative product company for the music industry. The company has been growing (now has 85+ staff members) and is looking for an Accounting Manager.

This role will report to the COO and will have one direct report, the bookkeeper. In addition, this role will collaborate with the founder/CEO and will provide various financial and reporting data to ensure overall financial health of the business. The candidate must have Cost Accounting experience in the manufacturing environment. Below is the detailed job description:

OVERVIEW

The Accounting Manager is responsible for the development and implementation of internal controls and budgets for the company. In addition, this position will oversee all accounting processes and procedures to include AP/AR, month end close and financial reporting. The Accounting Manager will assist in the implementation of the Accounting function in QuickBooks along with establishing the corresponding processes and procedures.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Develop and monitor internal controls, in addition to policies and procedures, for budget accounting, cash and credit management and forecasting.

Provide the status of the company’s financial condition by collecting, interpreting, analyzing data and creating a company dashboard in QuickBooks.

Prepare budgets by establishing schedules; collecting, analyzing, and consolidating financial data; recommending plans.

Achieve budget objectives by scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions.

Create reports that help managers and executive management understand the company’s financial position, results of operations and cash flow at a granular and strategic level as well as identifying developing trends.

Ensure compliance with state and federal regulatory requirements and professional standards, including income tax reporting.

Work with individual departments as well as executive management on profit improvement and cost reduction opportunities.

Organize and lead monthly Sales & Operation Planning meetings, looking back at 1 month of data and forecast 3 months forward.

Work with executive management to achieve a target net profit for the company.

Supervise one direct report, bookkeeper role.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

Bachelor’s degree in Finance/Accounting or related field.

5 years of experience managing an Accounting function/department (preferably in a manufacturing/product setting).

Excellent grasp of COGs and advanced Cost Accounting skills.

Good understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

Experience in QuickBooks and third-party point of sales systems.

Excellent Excel and Google Sheet experience and ability to create various formulas.

Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Excellent communication skills (both verbally and in writing).

Analytical thinker with strong conceptual and problem-solving skills.
