Non Partisan Canvassing

Minnesota Voice is looking to hire paid canvassers to do non-partisan voter registration and Get Out the Vote efforts in Southern Minnesota. We are looking for passionate individuals with connections to their communities who are willing to engage and encourage people to vote, regardless of their political persuasion. Canvassers will be paid $25/hr and will be able to work 5-30 hrs per week depending on your availability. The position is through November 6th, 2024.

Responsibilities:

Canvassing door to door to increase turnout in the General Election in your area. Canvassers will learn how to have effective conversations with voters to turn them out to vote and how to register them to vote. Canvassers will spend most of their time knocking on doors. Direct Voter Contact can also mean phone banking, text banking, or other methods of targeted outreach.

Attend paid canvassing trainings and meetings.

Data Management: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of voter contact information and engagement activities. Utilize data to inform decisions and measure the impact of outreach efforts. All voter contacts will be assigned and documented through an app. Canvassers will be assigned doors to knock on and will document the outcomes of doors knocked via an app.

Requirements:

Strong communication skills; you should enjoy working with other people and be willing and excited to speak with everyone, especially strangers

Able to build authentic relationships across lines of difference, such as race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, class, ability, gender identity, or other identities. Understands how to take an inclusive lens into all aspects of work

Ability to use a personal smartphone, or a provided tablet for canvassing and data recording

Ability to attend required trainings and meetings.

Must have reliable transportation. Can be by car, public transit, or bike depending on the area of focus. Please include any transportation barriers in your letter of interest.

Ability to physically navigate going door to door which may include uneven terrain, steps, etc.

Willingness to communicate with the canvassing manager regarding progress, issues encountered, and support needed.

Compensation

We are hiring 5-30 hrs a week depending on availability and capacity at $25/hr. The schedule is flexible and determined by a canvasser, but evening and weekend hours are required.
