Job Type: Full-time, Part-time, Contract

Salary Range: $20.00 - $45.00 per hour

Benefits: Flexible schedule, professional development assistance, medical and retirement depending on placement.

Schedule: Flexible work schedule to an 8 hour shift

Duties Include:

▸ Answer alarms and investigate disturbances

▸ Work with local law enforcement or fire departments in case of emergency such as unauthorized persons/trespassing

▸ Circulate among visitors, patrons or employees to preserve order and protect property

▸ Monitor and authorize entrance and departure of employees, visitors and other persons to guard against theft and maintain security of premises

▸ Patrol industrial or commercial premises in your marked vehicle and/or walk the property to deter trespassing, detect signs of intrusion and ensure doors, windows and gates are secure

▸ Escort or drive motor vehicle to transport individuals to specified locations or to provide personal protection

RULES pursuant to The Georgia Board of Private Detective & Security Agencies for Individuals, Officers & Businesses That Hire Them

INFORMATION AND ACTIONS RESULTING IN FINES, JAIL AND PRISON

The Georgia Board of Private Detective & Security Agencies has the authority to refuse to grant a license to an applicant, revoke or discipline the license of a person licensed by the Board, upon a finding that the licensee or applicant has knowingly aided and abetted unlicensed practice: O.C.G.A. § 43-1-19

UNLICENSED INIVIDUAL

Any individual working as a guard, watchman, or patrolman who will be unarmed and employed in private security shall be governed by O.C.G.A. § 43-38-7.1 Registration Records of Unarmed Security Employees and required to complete a certain number of training hours. Failure to comply results in O.C.G.A. § 43-38-16. Penalty

Licensed and UNARMED Security Officer

Officers must be able to show a current guard license: O.C.G.A. § 43-38-6(a) Display of Licenses

Working as an ARMED Officer with no Weapons License or using your Georgia Firearms License as a Weapons License is in violation of O.C.G.A. § 43-38-10 Permits to Carry Firearms. Each day or fraction of a day of practice shall constitute a separate offense. O.C.G.A. § 43-38-16 Penalty

Working for an agency, individual or business that is not licensed by the Georgia State Board of Private Detectives & Security Agencies is in violation of O.C.G.A. 43-38-7.1 Registration Records of Unarmed Security Employees

Registered security employees must be renewed yearly or registration expires per Rule 509-3-.09 Annual Training and Rule 509-3-.12 Continuing Education Requirements

Officers are to complete the biennial continuing education and firearms re-qualification courses per Rule 509-2-.01(3) and Rule 509-3-.12. Continuing Education Requirements

Licensed and ARMED Security Officer

Working as an unarmed Security Officer is legal.

Firearm Selection must be a Georgia State Board authorized service caliber firearm or you are in violation of Georgia Board Rule 509-3-.8 & Rule 509-4-.01 Weapons

It is unlawful for an officer to use their company issued license to do side work without written authorization from the licensee (employer) State Board Rule 509-2-.03(6) Issuance of Licenses and Registration

Registered security employees must be renewed yearly or registration expires per Rule 509-3-.09 Annual Training and Rule 509-3-.12 Continuing Education Requirements

Businesses/Agencies Hiring Security Officers

Your business or agency must be licensed with the State of Georgia to employ security officers or you are in violation of O.C.G.A. § 43-38-6(a); O.C.G.A. § 43-38-6 (e) Display of Licenses

Hiring an unlicensed individual or officer that is not registered with the Georgia State Board of Private Detectives & Security Agencies is in direct violation of State Board Rule 509-2-.03. Issuance of Licenses and Registrations

Upon death, resignation or termination of an Officer who is licensed or registered with the board, the employer shall notify the Board within (30) days of the absence. State Board Rule 509-2-.03(4) Issuance of Licenses and Registration

If a licensed or registered employee leaves a licensed company to become employed with another licensed company, the new employer must submit a new application and appropriate fee to the Board on behalf of the employee per State Board Rule 509-2-.03(5) Issuance of Licenses and Registration

If a registrant or licensed Officer is employed by more than one agency simultaneously, each employer must complete an application for registration or licensure on behalf of the employee per State Board Rule 509-2-.03(6) Issuance of Licenses and Registration
