AVP, Technology Product Lead
Job Description:Role Summary/Purpose:Synchrony's Health & Wellness platform works to launch new and competitive products and capabilities to support various growth areas, including financial product offerings, commercial capabilities, and enablers for our human healthcare and pet/vet businesses. As a data-driven company, Synchrony uses data and analytics to determine which products and capabilities to offer, as well as to measure their performance.As a Technology Product Lead focused on data initiatives, you will partner with various business, analytics, and technology stakeholders to understand the data, reporting, and analytical requirements to support the roll out of new, and enhancements to existing, financial products and technical capabilities. You will also focus on building out and enhancing our client platform's data foundation, which will enable Health & Wellness to identify and realize potential growth opportunities. To ensure the delivery of these initiatives and projects, you will lead multiple teams in the technical execution of these initiatives, from data provisioning through to consumption.You will be responsible for facilitating strategic and tactical conversations among a wide range of business, analytics, and technical stakeholders, to gather data-centric customer, client, partner, and internal business requirements. Through collaborative design sessions with multiple teams, you will partner with the data consumers, system architects, solution architects, and information architects to convert those requirements into technical roadmaps. Your responsibilities continue with engaging, and partnering with, various agile release trains and scrum teams to deliver on these requirements. As such, the ideal candidate will have a strong project management, data management, and technical background, as well as proven track record of delivering critical initiatives in agile at scale.Our Way of WorkingWe're proud to offer you choice and flexibility. Work with internal and external customers to formulate business and non-functional requirements, ensuring those requirements take into consideration enterprise-applicability, scalability, sustainability, future-proofing, compliance with our data management standards, and protection of personally identifiable information (PII).
Partner with system architects, solution architects, information architects, other technical resources, and analytics to facilitate the design of solutions that will meet the given business requirements, again with a focus on enterprise-applicability, scalability, sustainability, future-proofing, compliance with our data management standards, and protection of PII.
Work with the product managers and product owners of the various ARTs and agile teams to convert the business requirements and solution design into those teams' respective backlog items, facilitating the answering of questions and removal of blockers, so that those items meet their respective team's definition of ready.
Partner with the stakeholders and technical leaders to create and maintain the documentation necessary to drive alignment across all relevant parties throughout the lifecycle of the project, such as requirements documentation, architecture design documents, meeting notes, etc.
Create and maintain engagement touchpoints and open lines of communication to ensure that stakeholders are aware of the development teams' progress, the development teams can collaborate effectively when needed, and open questions and blockers can be efficiently addressed.
Exemplify the agile mindset by being a servant-leader for the stakeholders and development teams, as well as guiding the team in agile best practices by emphasizing scoping the requirements into an MVP versus future iterations, balancing the tension of scope versus timelines, thoughtfully making decisions to accrue technical debt to accelerate timelines, finding opportunities to compromise on requirements or timelines to help everyone succeed, establishing a regular and recurring user testing cadence, and helping establish a culture that values a healthy, sustainable work pace.
Facilitate scope / timeliness compromise conversations between stakeholders and the technical teams to define delivery plans that will allow the technical teams to deliver on the requirements incrementally in a way that adds value, being careful to identify when technical debt is accrued to help drive timelines.
Continue to lead and support the various stakeholders and teams until the solution is delivered and all requirements are met.
Qualifications/Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree and 4+ years of Technology experience or equivalent program leadership experience, or in lieu of a degree, a High School Diploma/GED and 8+ years of the aforementioned Technology experience
Experience in project management or leading a scrum team as a product owner or scrum master
Experience in the development and implementation of technology systems or components, especially data systems such as databases, data warehouses, or data lakes
Desired Characteristics:
Experience in product management, especially technical product management
Demonstrated ability to work with cross-functional teams, especially software development teams
Demonstrated effectiveness at translating communications between business stakeholders and technical development team members
Passion for agile and experience helping teams operate with an agile mindset
Experience working in or with SAFe / scaled agile teams
Previous experience with data and analytical platforms and technologies
Experience with data management and data protection best practices
Experience writing queries to querying data stores to answer business questions
Fluent in MS Office
Experience with Jira, Confluence, Whimsical, and other tools critical to the documentation of requirements, solution design, and acceptance criteria
Superior organization skills and adept at multi-tasking
Excellent written and verbal interpersonal and communication skills
An analytical approach to problem solving and trouble shooting
A 'can do' and flexible attitude with an ability to hit the ground running and learn on your feet
High level of initiative and can work well in a team environment
Grade/Level: 11The salary range for this position is 90,000.00 - 155,000.00 USD Annual and is eligible for an annual bonus based on individual and company performance.Actual compensation offered within the posted salary range will be based upon work experience, skill level or knowledge.Salaries are adjusted according to market in CA, NY Metro and Seattle.Eligibility Requirements:
You must be 18 years or older
You must have a high school diploma or equivalent
You must be willing to take a drug test, submit to a background investigation and submit fingerprints as part of the onboarding process
You must be able to satisfy the requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act.
New hires (Level 4-7) must have 9 months of continuous service with the company before they are eligible to post on other roles. Once this new hire time in position requirement is met, the associate will have a minimum 6 months' time in position before they can post for future non-exempt roles. Employees, level 8 or greater, must have at least 18 months' time in position before they can post.
