Living Well in Community (LWC) Instructor
Position Type: Part-time/Contract
Overview: As a Living Well in Community (LWC) Instructor at LIFTT, you will play a pivotal role in empowering individuals with disabilities to live independently and participate fully in their communities. Drawing upon your extensive experience as a retired teacher, you will deliver engaging and informative classes that cover various aspects of independent living and community involvement.
Key Responsibilities:
· Class Planning and Delivery: Develop and deliver curriculum for Living Well in Community (LWC) classes, focusing on skills and knowledge that promote independent living. LIFTT partners with the Rural Institute of the University of Montana to implement this project.
· Individual Support: Provide one-on-one support and mentorship to class participants, helping them to set and achieve personal goals related to independent living.
· Collaboration: Work closely with LIFTT staff and other instructors to ensure a cohesive approach to independent living education.
· Resource Development: Create and distribute educational materials, resources, and activities that enhance the learning experience.
· Assessment and Feedback: Monitor and assess the progress of participants, providing constructive feedback and adjusting teaching methods as necessary.
· Advocacy: Promote the mission of LIFTT and advocate for the rights and inclusion of individuals with disabilities.
Qualifications:
· Education: Bachelor’s degree in Education, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field. A Master’s degree is preferred.
· Experience: Extensive teaching experience, preferably with adults or individuals with disabilities.
· Skills: Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Ability to adapt teaching methods to meet the diverse needs of participants.
· Knowledge: Familiarity with independent living principles and practices, disability rights, and community resources.
· Commitment: Passion for empowering individuals with disabilities and promoting their independence and inclusion.
