Project Engineer - with Underground Wet Utility Experience
Hunter Contracting Co. is a family-owned, heavy civil contracting firm serving Arizona since 1961.
We are looking for good, hard-working, high-energy, self-motivating, professional individuals to grow with our project needs.We are currently seeking a Project Engineer with experience in underground wet utilities. This position requires at least 2 years experience as a Project Engineer in Heavy Civil Construction and experience with underground wet utilities. Duties, & Responsibilities:
Develop and review plans, designs, and specifications for wet utilities projects.
Maintains project schedules with input received from Project Superintendent and Project Manager.
Review and evaluate job costs weekly and submit quantity data.
Research suspicious job costs items and has appropriate corrections made.
Review timecards for accuracy of time entry and equipment utilization.
Review field receipts (delivery tickets) for proper and complete coding.
Develop manual tracking system for monitoring quantities (yield) weekly.
Develop Daily Cost/Production Reports on key items, selected by the Project Manager.
Review all project plans, specifications, scope of work and estimates.
Obtain and secure necessary submittal documents.
Develops list of required permits and prepare permit applications.
Prepare correspondence as necessary.
Attends project pre-planning meetings.
Develops detailed project construction schedule in cooperation with the Project Manager and Project Superintendent.
Develops project cash flow (revenue) reports from project schedule.
Processes change orders.
Prepares and processes force accounts and back charges.
Assists with the project close out; quantity take-offs, as-builts, and input job cost histories.
Estimates as assigned; take offs, research, vendor contract and project progress estimates.
Attends monthly supervisory meeting and weekly project scheduling meetings.
Adheres to all Hunter Contracting Co. safety policies, procedures, and instructions from management.
Performs other incidental and related duties as required and assigned.
Work Qualifications:
Deep understanding of underground wet utilities and heavy civil contracting.
Ability to read and understand project plans and specifications.
Knowledge and experience with various heavy civil software.
Computer knowledge and efficiency including Microsoft Office products including Microsoft Project, Word, Excel, Bluebeam, etc.
Knowledgeable with industry standards and relevant laws, regulations and governmental requirements.
Ability to work on multiple projects, adjusts quickly to shifting priorities, meet deadlines, exercises good judgment, and handles pressure situations with owners and other constituents.
Works within precise standards of accuracy.
Strong communication and organizational skills.
Approaches work in a meticulous, thorough, and detailed manner.
Possesses a valid Driver’s License.
Education & Work Experience Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in Heavy Civil Engineering or Construction Management; AND
Minimum three (3) years of experience in related field; OR
Any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
