Assist in planning, preparing and delivering lesson plans, special activities and provocations that facilitate active learning consistent with the philosophies and objectives of the St. John Neumann School for Children and Families.
Support in preparing and maintaining a safe, healthy, inviting, nurturing and engaging environment for all children, families, and colleagues.
Maintain positive and proactive approaches to discipline and student behavior in accordance with the behavior policy, plans and mindful philosophies endorsed by CHI St. Joseph Children’s Health and the St. John Neumann School for Children and Families.
Create accurate and complete records for students, colleagues and parents regarding students' progress, development, and needs as appropriate.
Assist in updating all necessary records accurately and completely on students and activities as required by laws, policies and school regulations.
Assist in multiple classrooms if/when the position requires it.
Collaborate with the Food Services and Nutrition Manager to address the baking needs of the school's food service program and the Monastery Bakery of St. Joseph Market Stand.
Support the operations of the Monastery Bakery of St. Joseph Market Stand at the Columbia Market House (all proceeds from the stand support the School and the educational programming of CHI St. Joseph Children's Health)
Encourage parent and community involvement.
QualificationsQualifications and Skills:
A high school diploma or a general educational development certificate and 30 credit hours from an accredited college or university in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education or the human services field.
A.A/A.S degree in early childhood education / teaching from an accredited institution preferred.
Experience working in a commercial kitchen. Baking experience preferred.
Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.
Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
Creative in their approach to their job.
Demonstrate an understanding of inquiry and play-based learning models.
Demonstrate an understanding of the cultural and social barriers that can exist when accessing health-related services.
Physical Requirements: Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, operate a hand-held learning device and other office equipment, reach with hands and arms, and must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.
