Texas Health Denton is the city’s only provider of obstetrical and neonatal intensive care services and is the largest provider of obstetrical services in Denton County. The ground floor houses a breast imaging center, outpatient physical therapy, cardiac rehabilitation and an internal medicine residency program.Job DutiesHuman Resource ManagementFunctions in accordance with hospital policiesReinforces compliance of staff with hospital policiesGives informal/formal feedback regarding performance throughout the yearParticipates in selection and hiring of qualified staffPromotes retention initiativesAssists in career development of staffPromotes staff developmentFacilitates Professional Practice Model philosophy and employee participationServes as a role model and mentorInspires growth and development in staff, students and othersMaintains open active communication among all staff within the department and with customers of the departmentAssists staff in developing effective communication skillsCustomer and Interdepartmental RelationsActively promotes satisfaction targets related to: Patients, Employees and PhysiciansProvides rewards & recognition for accomplishments of staffUses effective interpersonal skills to address staff or physician concernsPromptly attempts to resolve complaints/concernsFosters interdisciplinary environment to promote optimal outcomesSupports/participates in hospital initiatives in the communityActively participates in and leads interdisciplinary teamsHelps support and develop Unit Based Professional Practice Model councilOR FunctionsRun Bowie test on all sterilizers at the beginning of each dayLoad and return instrument cart to OR with any trays sent down at nightReplenish as needed specialty instrument trays for other areas (Cath Lab Pacemakers Trays and Permacath Trays, other areas such as Chest Tube Insertion, Nose Fracture, Nosebleed, Nasal Packing, house-wide crash cart trays and intubation)Clean, decontaminate and sterilize specialty trays for Wound Care CenterOrder supplies, replacement instrumentsMaintain accurate sterilization records and report monthly totals to QAPick up instrument carts, sterilize and return all trays to OR, L&D, and Cath LabProcess rental invoices for payment after verificationClinical OperationsActively participates in the PI processIndependently able to problem solve and meet changing needs of staff, physicians and new technology/proceduresFacilitates the provision of safe, competent processing of equipment and suppliesClarifies and encourages staff compliance with hospital clinical policiesFacilitates compliance with regulatory and accreditation agenciesProvides legal/ethical guidance for departmentSupports the use of PI tools to appropriately address clinical or quality issues/concernsFacilitates the provision of safe processing for supplies and equipment used on patients of all age populations served in the OR, OB, NICU and throughout the facility.Leadership/Professional DevelopmentServes as a leader to staff in problem solving, decision making and planning activitiesCompletes or assists with performance evaluations and submits to Human Resources on timeEnhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programsDemonstrates accountability and responsibility by independently completing projects/assignments on timeServes as chair/member for committees, teams and task forces as requestedProvides continuing education regarding TJC and other agency guidelines/standardsEducationH.S.
