Building Material Salesperson

Fast growing building materials supplier in Brooklyn is looking for competent and knowledgeable inside salesperson who will play a key role in expanding our sales activities.

Responsibilities:

- Handle instore, phone and online sales focusing on customer relationships and secure new sales, managing company’s sales of products and services, tracking, investigating and reporting sales information

- Maintain existing accounts while generating new business through cold calls and following leads

- Promote, sell and secure new accounts for the company

- Interact with external vendors: requesting quotes, verifying and placing orders; ability to negotiate prices and contractual agreements

- Input customer orders along with vendors bills, pricing information and additional data into the computer system

- Handle and resolve customer issues including inquiries and refunds

- Assist in the collection of accounts receivable

- Inform company of competitive prices, products and area-related information

- Research and coordinate purchase and delivery of inventory products including special products to the yard and/or job sites

- Continuously improve and maintain in-depth product knowledge

- Maintain stock levels on the sales floor and in the stockroom

- When required, participate in monthly and/or annual physical inventories

- Comply with company’s attendance policy by maintaining regular and predictable attendance

- Assist Operations Manager as needed

- Estimate materials from blueprints supplied by customer/contractor

- Other duties may be assigned

Requirement:

- High school diploma or equivalent required

- 2+ years of inside sales experience

- Solid knowledge of construction field, materials and building trades.

- Solid foundation in general computer skills (Windows, QB Online, Shopify, Shipday, Uber and other needed software and apps) is a must

- Excellent verbal communication skills and telephone manners

- Great attention to details, anility to multitask and work under pressure; understanding work order and following orders is a must

- Ability to lift 25-50lb

- Must have valid driver’s license

Compensation: $55,000 - $65,000 a year. Pay may vary based on factors including, but not limited to location, education, training, and/or experience
