As our CPG company has been operating for just over 4 years, this job is in a start-up environment and is a growth opportunity. Our products are designed to support health and our production process is in the craft / specialty-item realm. The products are currently in the market.

The Production Assistant is responsible for working at our food production facility in the Lower East Side. Some responsibilities include loading ingredients into commercial kitchen equipment, producing large batch items, packaging and more. They also monitor the machinery during the cooking and packing process to make sure our product quality standards are being met. The production work is all done in-house. The Food Production assistant will work directly with the Exec Chef as well as the Production Manager while conducting this work.

Skills Required & Responsibilities Overview

- Follows guidelines for proper assembly and production of packaged foods.

- Support and follow direction with the Executive Chef about kitchen performance.

- Reports defective materials or questionable conditions for Quality Assurance.

- Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follows safety regulations.

- Receiving and processing of goods, packaged goods as well as organization of facility and products

- Monitors food cooking machines and makes adjustments to the controls for devices such as boilers, ovens, dehydrators etc.

- Comprehends written instructions and recipes from the company when putting together ingredients and starting a new batch of products, and makes necessary notes and changes.

- Programs kitchen equipment to operate according to company and recipe standards and makes changes to cooking temperature and time.

- Full knowledge of methods, procedures and quality standards relating to company menus as well as basic kitchen procedures and terminology.

- Ability to utilize company policies to successfully uphold quality and consistency in all menu items prepared and served.

- Ability to communicate work-related information to coworkers and supervisors.

- Ability to stand for extended periods of time with limited breaks.

- Ability to push, pull, lift or carry 75 lbs. or more.

- Ability to visually inspect, taste and smell product to ensure freshness and quality.

- Ability to communicate effectively with associates, management, clients and vendors if necessary.

- Ability to work flexible schedules to accommodate business levels.

- Have NYC DOH Certificates or be willing to be certified

Full Time position - 40 hours per week

Starting wage is $25 an hour
