Staff Accountant
Description We are looking to onboard a Staff Accountant in the Transport industry, based in MOON TWP, Pennsylvania. This role offers a contract to hire employment opportunity and involves handling various accounting functions such as journal entries, account reconciliation, and month-end closing, among others. Responsibilities: Prepare schedules and analysis to support external financial statement audit and tax preparation. Assist in the preparation of the annual budget and periodic forecasts. Respond to auditor requests and ensure all necessary information is provided. Prepare and file state corporate income taxes, sales & use tax, property tax, and other operating taxes. Organize and maintain various elements of company accounting for insurance programs including the summary/analysis of premium accruals and audit exposures, monthly loss run reviews, and determination of appropriate deductibles accruals. Develop understanding of company insurance surcharge programs and coordinate internal tracking and reporting of these programs to company executives. Assist in transitioning revenue recognition procedures under ASC 606 and lease accounting procedures under ASC 842. Participate in due diligence and integration work on acquisitions. Perform other ad-hoc projects related to technical accounting developments at the request of the Assistant Controller. Requirements Possesses a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance Proficient in using accounting software like NetSuite, Oracle, QuickBooks, and SAP Exhibits strong skills in Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) Demonstrates a solid understanding of bank reconciliations Experienced in maintaining a general ledger and making journal entries Familiar with the month-end close process Previous experience in the transport industry is desirable Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Strong organizational and multitasking abilities Ability to work independently and as part of a team High level of accuracy and attention to detail Ability to analyze and interpret financial data Strong problem-solving skills Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel Possesses strong ethical standards and integrity in all work-related actions.
