The Facilities Technician helps us to inspire, care for and nurture our guests and team members by completing repairs to physical assets, basic equipment, and supporting small repair and maintenance projects for our Cafes, Market Bakery, and Catering kitchens. The Facilities Technician’s duties include working independently at the direction of the Tatte Facilities Manager and with cafe operations teams while meeting safety regulations and building codes and safety standards. They also work directly with the Maintenance & Facilities Manager to ensure the buildings, and its equipment is operating at full capacity. They provide round the clock service to our operations teams/ (full-time role, weekend and night coverage may be required).

Summary of Responsibilities

Completes the planned and required repair and maintenance at all Tatte locations including cafes, catering kitchens and the Boston bakery.

Completes the minor repairs on the café infrastructure – focus on/but not limited to carpentry, doors, cafe hardware (doors, door hardware, furniture), tile work, paint, cleaning, and various other maintenance and repair jobs.

Responsible for the timely completion of necessary repair, maintenance, and installation of physical assets, building, equipment, and work projects.

Works closely with other departments such as Operations, Culinary, IT, Food Safety, and Beverage to ensure all needs are provided to ensure smooth cafe operations.

Responsible for maintaining Tatte Facilities vehicle, tools, tablet, and any other company provided resources.

Performs some preventive maintenance tasks (filter changes, cleaning) for some equipment and storage systems.

Educates Managers on preventive care, repairs, and maintenance within their building.

Ensures food safety procedures are adhered to when repairing, replacing, installing and applying preventive maintenance to food processing equipment and while working in food processing areas.

Follows and ensures compliance with all Food Safety and Safety practices, policies and requirements.

Facilitates a safe working environment through inspection of various areas for safety hazards and observing team member safe work habits. Works with support leadership department to ensure that all OSHA requirements are adhered to and complied with.

Serves as on-call weekend contact (rotating), trouble shoots equipment over the phone with restaurant management before visiting in-person or escalating to Facilities Manager.

Monitors and facilitates resolution of repair projects that have been self-performed.

Ensures all assigned projects are closed out and punch list is completed.

Researches and provides guidance and opportunities to save on capital expenditures.

Working Conditions / Essential Functions

Must be able to work environment is fast-paced, dynamic, results-oriented, innovative, and values responsibility and accountability.

Work will be performed in cafe locations, catering kitchens, and central baking/commissary location.

Must be able to stand and exert fast-paced mobility for entire shift (typically at 8 hours)

Must have a good sense of balance, be able to lift, bend, kneel, stoop, and wipe.

Must be able to frequently lift items weighing up to 75 pounds.

Able to climb a ladder.

Able to work in small and occasionally crowded spaces.

Ability to read and speak English.

Must be able to interact verbally and listen attentively to co-workers, managers, and supervisors.

Must complete and satisfactorily pass background check as well as motor vehicle record check

Position Requirements

Strong communication and negotiation skills.

Technically proficient in trouble shooting, small-equipment repair, online record keeping and reports completion.

Strong computer and technology skills with proficiency in MS Office.

Demonstrated skills in managing competing priorities, detail orientation and working effectively and independently.

Uses independent judgement, common sense and personal initiatives to drive results.

Prior facility, maintenance & construction experience.

Valid driver’s license

Ability to drive a company van

Preferred Skills

5 years restaurant, facilities, maintenance, and/or construction experience within restaurant/hospitality industry or other closely associated businesses.

Demonstrates knowledge of basic construction principles, maintenance, budgeting, knowledge of general operation of kitchen equipment, mechanical / electrical / refrigeration systems (a plus), and restaurant operations.

Troubleshooting across all trades and supporting Facilities Manager in making trade repair decisions.

Experience with Service Channel
